Why are animal rights suporters so intolerant?

The RSPCA claims that schools pets corners should be closed down because the children 'might' not know how to care for the animals.

One of their own local groups has shut down because head office no longer supports such activities. ( I will look for a link tomorrow - it is 3.15 am here atm!

The RSPCA wroite to all local authorities stating that it did not support the sale of animals in pet shops. It asked them to bear this in mind when the licensing of pet shops came up for renewal.

Do you really think that the RSPCA can be obfective when it visits a pet shop and assesses whether the animals are being properly cared for?

I just went to their homepage and couldn't find these campaigns. Could you give me a link to an article.

I would disagree with RSPCA, probably, on both issues, but they hardly seem radical or violent.

I do hate the fact that people breed dogs when we have so many strays that have to be put down. I could see legislation limiting the breeding and sale of dogs and cats, somehow related to the population of strays. This may not be as big an issue in England as in the US, however.

I also assume that the RSPCA does not have the power to punish someone for mistreatment of animals and that they must go through the courts.
 
Breeding is necessary if you want a next generation of dogs. Also, selective breeding helps guarantee health. Do you have any idea what nature's model is in regards to this?

As far as the question: yes.
Breeding is not necessary on its current scale. Breeding does not guarantee health, and many dog breeds, precisely because of breeding practices have health problems most mutts will never face. Let alone the tempermental problems in many of the highstrung small dogs and dogs bred towards violence.

We literally have no idea how many unwanted dogs there are, how many are killed in shelters. If you want to talk about dogs bred towards violence, tell me how many human fatalities there have been in the last two decades in the United States.

What I do know for sure is that if breeding is stopped, the species will die out in about 20 years if not sooner. The attacks on breeders that are ongoing in the U.S. guarantee that those that are bred will tend to be the illegal and unethical breeders who never obey laws anyway. This means that more dogs will be bred under inhumane conditions. There will be more genetic health problems. More will be bred for violent uses. The SPCAs will use that as an excuse to crack down harder.

There is also the issue that the SPCAs do not have the right to do this to us, and we have the right to fight it. I have to follow my conscience. Breeding guarantees the existence of the next generation. The actions of the SPCAs, the HSUS, PETA, and others put this at risk along with violating my human rights to own and use animals.

I think you must mean breeds. Dogs, for example, are one species. The pets that is.

I'd need a link for the attacks on breeders. It seems to me it is still legal to breed cats and dogs and that this is happening all over the place.

Of course you have the right to fight them. These are supposed to be democracies and I really don't think the 'aristocrats' really give a shit about animals one way or the other so I am sure they will allow democratic action around issues they consider trivial.

It would take an unbelievable change to put most breeds of pets and farm animals in some kind jeopardy. I think you are in hysterics about something very unlikely. Too many rich people want their overbred, neurotic status animals and I see nothing remotely like the end of breeding or even much reduction in it anywhere. These rich 'advocates' will protect the breeds; you are hardly the underdog.
 
Simon, you just haven't received the word yet. I will have to get back to you on that, with links, but it is true that a lot of breeders who only have single litters of dogs have stalkers, as if the AR people actually assigned individuals to each case to harass them. They won't wait for the laws. They already lie about individual breeders to get them in trouble and they are already stalking individual breeders. They want the breeders to be smaller so that it is easier to pick them off.

More baseless accusations on your part. I am demanding that you prove your claim and not a lesser claim that the RSCPA has seldomly, on occasion, acted improperly. You haven't proven that animal rights activists as a whole, majority, or large number are violent, intolerant, out to hurt people, out to "abuse" people, and generally acting in a unlawful manner. I'm sorry you find demands to prove your actual point to by "playing games". I am part of this thread to counter act an intolerant person's(YOU) rantings.

I'll give you a starting point, the RSPCA in the UK has annual running costs of £82 million. Please demonstrate a counter RSPCA organisation which receives greater funding from the population, or employs more people, or has more volunteers, or exceeds the RSPCA in some way.

It's obvious you are. I'm not a mod, so I can't trace the IPs you used. If I had that information I could do so however. I suspect you have used an open proxy to create the sock puppet IDs.

You must think that we are so dumb that we would not suspect you had a hand in a first time poster coming to your aid, TWICE.

But if you need to hide behind your sock puppets and won't back up your claims, well again that shows how weak you are.
