It is a condition. I know plenty doctors who recognize the condition (in a select number of people) -- any other doctors who claim it isn't, are over-zealous.

People who stutter take speech therapy. I would think someone who can't spell would use spell check.

Of course Dyslexia is a real condition. Not using all the tools that are available to you is lazy.

I have never had that conversation with any doctors I know. :bugeye: Considering you know people with Down's who write better that Shakespeare, do the doctors you know have it as well?

This has turned out to take advantage of people who cannot spell correctly, despite if it has an actual condition behind it. Those who did it out of spite, should look at themselves for being ignorant and dogmatic.

Take advantage?? Its not like I'm asking a poor speller to write out a will or write me a check.

I actually said, i bet there is, because down syndrome in many situations does not attack their ability to write. If you knew any, you would know this.

You can take dyslexia therapy as well.. but there are levels of severity.
Maybe Asguard has a severe form.. it's hardly treatable then.
And besides, would you expect Asguard to pay for dyslexia therapy so that you won't be annoyed at has spelling on an internet board ? Seems a bit arrogant to me.
And whatever disadvantages he experiences in real life because he possibly doesn't take any therapy is his business.

Well, you can see it as laziness, but we can't know it's not a real condition. Most doctors agree that it is.
Sure, maybe he could put in a bit more effort but it probably wouldn't amount to much, or it will take him a long time to complete a single post.

Do you criticize someone that stutters ? I see that as a similar condition..

Heh, funny that you make this comparison. I am actually a stutterer. I have been all my life :p
Orleander has a point too. I took speech therapy until I was 15 for it.

It affects (seriously, attacks?!) their ability to learn. You have to learn how to spell and write.

It doesn't help everyone though.
My sister had stutter therapy but it didn't do that much. There is some improvement, but still, she stutters.

If you have severe dyslexia, therapy can help a bit but not all the way.

Besides, what if his parents didn't think it was necessary or didn't have the money ?

Oh, so you are singleing out Asguard? Kind of arrogant to pick on him like that.

If a person with the severe dyslexia you are talking about can't spell, then how are they able to read?

It didn't actually help me much either, of course, its hard to know where I would be had I not had the therapy. But I do still stutter.

I single out Asguard ??? Now you're just being funny..

Dyslexia can affect writing, reading or both.
