Why won't the U.S. use the metric system ?

    other way around, metric SI units are used for all scientific purposes and someone stupidly used imperial instead. In this case it was the use of pounds instead of Newtons

    There was a big push in American Pubic Schools in the mid 1970's to switch to Metric but after one year it was given up. Kids loved it but the Evil Forces killed it.

    IIRC the NASA engineers were using metric and Lockhead imperial. America is the modern Towel of Babel.
