I voted for 'he talked rubbish half the time' because there wasn't a 'Dragon was full of shit' option. Although I think most of those other boxes should get ticked also, all bar the last one. You missed off that he was a homophobe.

I am like kira, I don't understand why someone who wants to contribute to a free discussion forum should be permabanned. I don't like thought police.

I didn't see anything wrong with just periodically banning him for long periods of time. There are plenty of bigger trolls on the board which could be banned, some of which are even Mods. I kind of feel James R. is pretty much a troll outside of the scientific forums. Either the hand of justice should have been laid down uniformly or just allow him to continue talking rubbish all the time [which was what I voted for].

 

Nothing is ever fair. The problem i see is that certain people are truly savants and they have been deluded by people telling them how smart they are because they can add some numbers but often times these same people are naive and some would say imbecile in other areas. Watch Rain Man. Not directing this towards Draqon.

It is not much different than someone who can bake a really excellent cake and claiming because of that they MUST have high intellect. Well sure they are good at baking. I think this is very unfortunate and at the same time think Savantism is more widespread than people realize.

Well, we call that a non sequitur. The point being, what you assert is not true of all members. There are many, if not indeed the vast majority of members here who represent themselves as mature individuals who enjoy engaging in respectful discussion. I include here a number of members that I happen to disagree with, on a number of serious positions. Nonetheless, I engage in discussion with them, and respect them.

My point was, there is a vast difference to be found between the member whose opinion you happen to disagree with, but still manages to post in an effective manner, and the member whose sole purpose is to serve as a nuisance to all others.
