    Is this hand mine?

    Why did the earth move?

    Who am I?

What is it to be human?

    What is life?

    Why is the sky blue?

Why does the north wind blow?

    What is evil?

Perhaps that what they want you to think.

What is obvious to me may not be to others.

Some of those are science questions.
    Fail.

    Oh right.

Yet you fail to explain it.
    Well done.
    Not.

That's what I thought this was all about to begin with and why I asked you what you meant. If this was your underlying question and the only way you can get others to wax "philosophically" with you was to snare them into a question that you set as the trap. I don't think your to clever in doing so and only lowers my opinion of you. To bad that you can't just ask what you wanted to start with at least I'd be more respectful about you as others would too.

I think you misunderstand what philosophy is. Who do you think were the first asked such questions?

Which came first the philosopher or the scientist? Should everything be so black and white?

Do you believe George Bush beleives in god. He certainly says he does.

Well I can't engage all the people, all of the time.

Nope. Another false assumption on your part.

    And your point would be...?

And I should doubt him because...?

And you can't make a rational point either.
    Congratulations.

    What is with you lot?

Several threads melted down at this forum on Wednesday, a couple got 'iffy' and now it's gang up on geekzilla day?

No wonder these 'science' forums are losing credibility and membership.

Most of the posts on this thread do not attempt to answer the question in the OP or even ask for it to be expanded. The few posters who attempted an answer have been ignored.

If I had to wade through crap like the last two pages every day, that would soon take the spark out of living.....

    Thankfully, there is an option.

    Cheerio.....

Is it possible you thought wrong? The thread is in the philosophy section not the religious one. Prescriptive you see tends to yield narrow results. The question is a broad one and open to interpretation.

There may not be a definitive answer. Does that scare you?

A trap? I asked a question. Are you saying that the question is not a legitimate one?

Oh, ouch! That really hurt. I might be of the opinion that your spelling lets you down. However, I might out of respect and civility choose not to bring up your spelling and focus more upon what you have to say.

I shall try again to assert the OP:

Why Are People Afraid of Living?

I would have if geekzilla would have just answered my first question but geek didn't and I went on my way until geek asked about god, which is what I thought this thread was all about to begin with. I don't discuss much about religious viewpoints because I'm not religious and don't get involved with such nonsense very often.

As has already been shown: it's not a legitimate one.

You first have to show that they actually are afraid of living.
Although it may be "obvious" to you (in some strange manner) you have also admitted that what is "obvious" to you may not be apparent to others.

    Assuredly.

    And miss your scintillating responses?

    Hardly.

Sorting the fly poop from the pepper is a hobby of mine, but so much poop, so little pepper........sigh. These be lean times.

Generally I enjoy most of what you post, cosmic.

Perhaps I'm just a tad 'tetchy' today.

    An example of living fear?

Not even an example of fear.

I would agree that people who waste their time in regret are not realizing the potential of their life, at least in my opinion.

I would rather regret something I've done, than something that I never got around to doing, should I have time for reflection before checkout....

Pfft. What if life is meant to be spent on introspection and those who go out and do things are ones wasting it?
