Actually, placebos are drugs...they are the ones that doctors prescribe to people that think they are sick...here are the actual definitions: a medication prescribed more for the mental relief of the patient than for its actual effect on a disorder (2) : an inert or innocuous substance used especially in controlled experiments testing the efficacy of another substance (as a drug) b : something tending to soothe. ;-)
Right, just read pretty much the cheese of this thread and I think it deserves my contribution. My favourite band at the moment is Ministry. Absolutley awesome band. Some songs aren't that good, but the good ones, man they're good. Burning Inside, Corrosion, Impossible, Unsung, etc. They embody all that I love in Industrial music. Oomph! is another great band, they sound somewhat Germanic and are probably from there. Another great band. Now, to comment on the bands others have mentioned. Linkin Park - I hate them. I hate them with a passion and they are on my list. The only people I know who listen to them are teenage girls who either think Chester is hot or think they're real 'Grunge chicks' by listening to them or sk8er boi's who think it's the dogs. Linkin Park is music for the Wannabes. I'm afraid, certified psycho, you come under this catergory. Emporer - I don't like their sound, it's too much of a mess. I prefer clear and defined music which sets the adrenal gland into overdrive. Not noise. The Darkness - How in the hell did an 80's rock tribute band get into the charts. And what's more they do it so badly. Another Wannabe band. Marylin Manson - Haven't listened to his stuff in a while but he is a genius. His latest album was tripe but his others were just unbelievable. Another band for Wannabes but if you get past that and look deeply into the lyrics you'll find some great songs. My favourite being 'A Place in the Dirt' from the Holywood album. His best album imho. Very deep. Hopesfall - I've only heard one 'song', Andromeda. It's instrumental from what I can tell but I like it, I think I'll get more of their stuff. I'm bored now
Ouch. I'm a teenage girl who does not even know which of the guys is Chester and finds none of the band members hot. I don't know their ages, their birthdates, their zodiac signs or any of that crap... I have Avril with a passion. I'm not a freakin' "Grunge Chick" - Grunge, excuse me... Is the Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam era. Not this neo-rock, or neu-rock (isn't it so cool to use wrong spelling these days? Put an 8 in skater and wow, you're idolized) or whatever it is. I like Linkin Park's Hybrid theory and I intend to go to their concert, but only because Muse, Korn and Godsmack HAPPEN to be there... hehe For the record: I'm no Wannabe. I know what grunge is and grunge is more or less dead, but people today say they're 'grungers' or people shout 'grungers' at them/us. Anyway, I don't know what else to say
Hey Thor, you are right, Oomph! Is a german band. I don´t know to which songs you listen, but the older ones are better than those from the new album. The Darkness are a bad joke if you ask me. Haven´t seen such crap for a long time. (hehe, some discounters put them #1 in the heavy metal section)
Well I wander what tipped me off...could it be names of the songs? lol! Augen Auf, Dein Feuer, Die Maske, Der Neue Got, Nothing is Real...waitaminute! I really like Eisbaer. I don't know what's new and what's old to be honest. A little help? The Metal Hammer magazine readers voted The Darkness the worst band of the year...but also one of the best. Mixed poll methinks.
Don´t know all new songs, just listened to the CD and decided not to buy it. "Augen auf" is a new one. I do not remember the names of the other ones.
how about Melissa Auf Der Maur? Somehow I don't think female rock is up anyone's street. Even is she is Ex-hole and Ex-Smashing Pumpkins (who, by the way... give excellent concerts! Or... gave...)
(Bored. Going through old threads). Faith No More. Or Metallica. Maybe even Anthrax. ... ... ... ...nope. Definately Faith No More. The Flemster.
"tricky band names that confuse parents are nothing new...think 'yes' and 'the who'" i could picture that old: who's playing? young: the who old: who? young: yeah, the who old: why are you asking me? young: shhh, this is a cool song old: who's it by anywho, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Machine Gun Fellatio are by far the greatest bands this side of the 80's
*fiddles with top hat* You, sir, are clearly talking bollocks. The RHCP used to be really good. Then they married a bunch of Yoko's and now make music parents listen to. Shame, really. MGF is a good choice, however. (Not as good as FNM but...) Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! The "everybody on the left: make some noise!" Flemster.
