my grandmother(rest in peace) was a descended of jews from the time of the first exile of Babylon, they just didnt returned to israel, but they did managed to keep their language and culture. they spoke Aramaic and didnt mixed because they lived in the mountains.
God said that he would scatter the tribes of Israel, and therefore it would be hard to re-aggregate the lost tribes. Of course there has been reports of many tribes returning from unthought of places like Ethiopia, which includes the recent tribe Bnei Mannashe, or the lost tribe of Mannaseh.
