What will the world be like in 2020+?

Personally i think there will be colonies on the moon and mars.
Have 3d virtual reality, with 5000 people on 1 server
world war 3 will occur (hopefully not)
Family planes not family cars(but may be flying cars)

    By 2020?

There will not be any colonies on the moon or Mars any time in the forseeable future. There will not even be a manned mission to Mars before 2020.

3D VR and 5000 people/server may be possible. I won't try to predict how far computers will advance.

World War 3 will not occur, but there will be lots of little wars.

    Family planes will never happen.

If you look back the past 16 years - i.e. to 1988 - there hasn't been much change except in electronics. Don't expect a Jetsons future in the next 16 years.

    Fair enough.

I hereby extend my predictions (or lack of predictions) to the year 2100.

I think that things won't be changed much. I think that people will have visited Mars. THe culture of fear is slowing man's progress.

Yeah, prudence always gets in the way of reckless abandon.

I wouldn't expect us too even visit Mars til at least 2035++ as far as family planes or thing such maybe 2200++ not any where the near future computer thats too hard to predict, as far as the moon goes look for around 2030 but before Mars that will be the test for us going to Mars I think could be wrong but its just what I think.

I do agree we all haven't changed much in the past 20 - 30 years at all maybe computers have gotten faster and better, but our space tech is really not advancing that much for human travel anyways sure we can orbit sats around distant planets thats easy in compairson to putting humans into deep space where you have to provide water food air and what ever else they need to survive.

I really don't see any major changes to the world or techs that you see in sci-fi movies til 3000++ if then people are scared of change not saying either way is bad but its just how I see it we have a long way to go and we not moving very quickly.

Well we might see the flying car; click If this takes off and is affordable to purchase we may see some by then.

Buisness gurus may travel in their own personal submarine; click

Long distance travel will perhaps leap into space; click

How about a honey moon in space hotel? click

AI (Artificial Intelegence) is certainly gaining momentum; so who can say for sure what kinds of compters we may have in 15 years; click

Ahh at last, we may have found the true answer for "Biological Immortality"

So when ever we get rid of the "Emperor", we may be fortunate enough to move forward instead of its current trend of going backwards!.

I saw that flying car for auction on ebay about a year or more back... I never followed up the results. With out going into the physics of it... you won't see cars like that on the street. Here's a more practrical car* - it's similar to a heli-copter in it's controls, how ever the prop. will go on the bottom, and will be great for things such as rescues - where conventional choppers can't go.

    - Servers at the moment can handle over 100 players on single game... I don't see why they couldn't handle 5000 in 16 or more years. Apparently there's some very impressive internet technology developed (or displayed) in Australia, that could stream highest quality video and more with 0 ping, how ever - it is sometime away - till this is common in households.

WWIII - unlikely... How ever I concur with sideshowbob, in that there will be lots of little wars, there are lots of little wars on right now.

Colonies on the moon and mars, are not likely in the next 16 years - how ever I've seen a doc. on DW television from germany about - how great studies are being done at the moment in order to try and get people on Mars - as soon as practical. Funded by many businessmen/women and Governments. The Russians in the 70's were training men to go to Mars - how ever as you all can see by lacking of footprints on Mars... That didn't eventuate.

    Take care,
    - Shifty Russian.

It will be the same. A human doesn't change.

Probably without a shadow of a doubt. Look at all the political tension around these days.

    Hmmm...**invents something**

In just 15 years not much will change. Perhaps hybred cars with hydrogen or other non polluting engines will be in mass production.

Genetics will be more useful in treating illneses.

Pollution will be more abundant and global warming will be on the rise even more so than today.

    More overcrowding and less foods.

Fusion may be a closer reality for power.

This discussion was for you to think what the world will be like and what YOU would like it to be

The ISS will have been completed, and in a slight state of decline like Mir
  18. Nuttyfish Guest

I will have destroyed the ISS! HA!

Well a study has just said that half the worlds population will be speaking english by 2015. I expect loads more aggro with muslims, more pollution , petrol prices to get sky high, and the start of water wars. But there will be loads of cool electronic stuff about!

I read somewhere a while ago that astronomers had spotted a rather large asteroid on a collision course with Earth, due to impact in June, 2014. June 6th, actually, I think.
This story made all the papers for a day or two then totally vanished without trace.
The impact was designated an Extinction Level Event at worst and Catastrophic at best.
Makes one wonder, given the sudden lack of info on the subject, just how true this could be.
So, to answer the question, in the years following 2020, The Charmer firmly believes we'll all be pretty much fucked!
    Merry Xmas!

    hi Charmer

I read this too, there were talks about the end of the world on 2014 actually you sure it is 2014? for some reason i remeber 2012, but never mind, and then it just stoped.

My hopes is that earth be a better place to live in around 2020, but i guess noghtmare is more likely.
I also sadly believe that people with little money will be more misrable then today.

Internet connection speed has gone up. 10mb is slow. Unfortunately you need this kind of speed because every website comes with a million huge interactive multimedia files that all need to be downloaded.

WIN2020 will come out the next year, but already there is a pirate version going oround the internet. Bill is pissed and looks like a million bucks after the stem cell rejuvenating therapy he got in mexico, although he denies it.

George W. Bush is still president after once again changing the constitution. The american people feel proud of their country (haha...what else is new).

Unfortunately Europe is kicking USA┬┤s economic ass after forming an alliance with most third world countries, involving tearing up debts and installing a new trade infrastructure.

The spuriousmonkey website is now officially the most popular website on the internet, besides porn.
