I'm a model maker for consumer products. Until very recently I used plastics, clay, wood, various cast synthetic materials and hand tools. Now I do it all on the computer with Rhino and soon with PowerShape.

Well, it depends what is meant by results. In this case, any hand made model needs to be translated into injection molds for production, which means that in any case, a digital model needs to be created. In the past, my model was used as a reference for a digital modeller down the line (or a team of them). However the hand model was usually more perfect than the end product.

Now that I do the digital model, I have more control over the finished item, but I'm still not quite as skilled as I would like to be.

The best results as far as a good looking model (as oppsed to the end product) result from a hybrid, part hand made, part digital parts printed by a rapid prototype machine. Some forms are more organic, and lend themselves to hand tools, and some geometry is better suited to the way the computer draws things, particularly things like lettering.

When I hear rob thomas from matchbox twenty, I want to shoot myself, maybe we could use a model of his singing for the evil beast's voice.

I'm new here and thought this would be a great place to start!
I'm an Environmental/Health and Safety Specialist for the government (Canadian) and do a fair bit of travelling. I have a degree in Environmental Engineering but have spent the last 10 years in construction as a project manager.
I'm working on building and creating a spa and wellness centre in Costa Rica, hopefully within the next 5 years.

I am a student 'electrical engineer and computer scientist' (I am considering specialising in embedded systems, actually).

My sunday job is in a shop, as an expert in blinds, curtains and curtain tracks!

Here is a recent picture of me, sorry for the serious face, the photographer was looking at cartoons of my prophet at the time.

Oh and when christmas time comes, i die my beard white & become santa claus outside of harrods in london, i know its not my faith, but something has to pay for my heavy boozing, and my visits to soho's red light district.

may allah bring Peace to you all.........
