Heh, my parents too thought about moving to Montreal, when I was a toddler. They'd lived in France for a couple of years and decided that it was not the great place they'd thought it to be to bring me up in (I'd wandered out of the house and fallen into a snow drift lol), so we'd moved back to my birth country while they decided what they wanted to do. At that stage the decision was between Montreal and Australia, and they settled on Australia, after friends and family told them that Montreal was too far and not practical.

South-East Asia is definitely wonderful. And you are very correct about how they work so hard when they travel to the West. When I was in Indonesia, they were shocked that I'd choose to go there on holidays, because they couldn't imagine anyone wanting to leave Australia to visit their country. They kept asking me why I'd leave such a wonderful place such as Australia to visit a place like Indonesia. They kept saying to me that if they lived in Australia, they'd never leave it... lol.

Lucy, Las Vegas is basically the world in a desert. Every tourist from every continent of this world, one time or another if they like gambling they end up in Las Vegas. I lived in Las Vegas for two years, I actually never met anyone born there.

. My goal proffesion of been a cook, is well rewarded there, this is what I would like to do, I want to be a chef, however I can't afford the schooling so in essense, I will be under the wing of a master chef, while working and become one by experience, not by schooling. This is my goal. I could stay here in Houston and try this, however the pay here is worthless. I rather be paid well, a "dishwasher" which I was one, in Vegas can earn at least $12.00 hr, working for a "culinary union casino" a front line cook can earn as much as $25.00 phr, while a chef, can earn well over 80,000 thousand a year. Not only is the monetary part great, but the challenge of the pressure, and intence speed at preparing dishes is exilariting, "I know from experience" it's exiting.

Also my mom has reached an age, were I rather have her enjoy her last years, there's much distraction for us there were I may take her, the Grand Canyon, Reno, Silver chost towns, etc. And there's nothing like playing with money to keep one wits in tune. She's looking forward to the move as well as I.

    Godless.

Jamaica and Cuba are islands. Both are part of the greater antilles and located in the Carribean; Cuba is closer to Central America and not South America.

South America is a large land mass and the countries include: Venezuela, peru, uruguay, Argentina, paraguay, chile, ecuador, colombia, guyana, french guyana, and suriname.

...Oh and i forgot the largest country which is Brazil.

I was born in Venezuela, and visited mom's original place of birth Colombia. Venezuela is a beutyfull country as well as Colombia, however think of in their economic terms as the US and Mexico. Venezuela is a much richer country than Colombia, so theres border problems with many Colombias crossing illegaly to get better opportunities in Venezuela. Venezuela is roughly about the sise of Texas, it has desserts, forests, front ocean properties, islands, "Margarita" island the water was so cristal clear that you could see 30-50 feet below the water.
Colombia though poor economically it is a very beutifull country, and full of mountains part of the Andes string of Mountains run along the side of it. Mom was born in a city named Cartagena, a coastal city. Many tourist visit there, and it has everything from dirt poor to the filthy rich, there's only two class of people in these two countries, Poor or Rich, the middle class is been squeesed almost out of existence.

The last time I visited both countries I was 18 years old, I'm now 40 years old havent been back since.

Here's a site showing some pic.s of Venezuela.

Heh, long list, but the places you put down are all beautiful. I've been to 4, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 16 and I live at 8 lol. If you do head down to Australia, you should also try to get to New Zealand. Absolutely stunning country

Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!

, with vista's that would take anyone's breath away. But whichever place you do manage to visit, leave the city and see the real beauty of each country. Some of the most beautiful places I've ever visited have always been way off the beaten track. Hope you get to see it all, it's very much worth it, especially so in Australia. The most beautiful places I've ever seen here have been places that are not mentioned in the tourist maps and barely mentioned anywhere else. I once took this little road off the highway, it had no name and no markings, but I just turned and drove for about 45 minutes and I found myself on one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen in this country. Not a soul around. Just a stunning bay, with no sound except for the sound of the waves, wind through the trees and the birds and insects. Absolutely stunning. I went for a swim and sat there for a couple of hours just taking it all in.

Next place I want to visit is Antarctica by boat. Will take a few years before I get there, and I especially need to get myself right back to 100% before I do do it, but I'm hoping that within the next couple of years, I'll live out that dream

Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!

. LOL I think that dream has been one of the few things that's gotten me through the last couple of years. That is I would like to go if I ever get over the guilt that my going there will be ruining a pristine environment

Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!

. Oh well, it's but a dream at the moment, at least in the dream I'm not ruining the environment. But good luck on your up coming trips!

Boy you must have been waiting weeks to get that one in.
Still using my constructs and my words to attack me?
Why don’t you become interesting, for once, and create your own metaphor, get your own toys?
But Bob, monkey-man, only visits tourist areas and rarely sees the real place; he sits around pools, sips fruit juices and daiquiris and likes the shiny trinkets he buys as mementos. If Bob is single he’s there in the Hotel bar getting plastered night after night and trying to pick-up the other Bibet’s that are there to be picked-up, or he’s getting high on some other local ‘medication’. When he gets back home he tells everyone what fun hew had doing the same things he would have done back home but in a foreign environment, that makes it all the more better.
He hangs a camera around his neck, wears socks under his sandals and gaudy hats and flowery shirts to go with his kaki shorts that are always nicely pressed, clean and color coordinated, and takes pictures of all the things he’s supposed to with himself on the foreground.
His trips are made to prove his hypothetical cosmopolitan mentality and to brag about when his neighbor one-ups him by buying a new car and the pictures he takes are meant for those that drop-in and as conversation pieces for display.
He's there to escape his job, his family and his life and not there to expand his horizons and suck in the ambience.

What’s the matter monkey-man still haven’t found an ambition so you mock all others?
Try acquiring a personality first and then maybe you can make me notice you more.

    Bells
    I agree.
I know that in Greece the best places are found where few tourists go or know about.
If one wants to see the real place and experience the real spirit of a place one needs to travel, not as a tourist but as an explorer

Tobago (trinidad's sister island) is much more untouched than Trinidad. Stay out of Port of Prince if you do go to Trinidad because it has developed badly (congested etc). Trinidad has oil and was colonized more than Tobago so it is not so untouched in areas around the capitol. You would be better off moving further into the island...and like I said Tobago is divine! While there remember to swin naked in the ocean under a full moon! As for Tibet the essence of the place has changed DRAMATICALLY under the Chinese. Politically it is interesting because the Chinese are attempting to wipe out Tibetan culture (all the old temples, etc), and its difficult for the indigenous locals to speak of their situation freely. What is left of Tibetan culture exists outside of Tibet in India check out Dharamsala; the largest Tibetan community and home to the Dalai Lama. If you want 'untouched' in Asia check out Bhutan next to Nepal (virtually untouched by the west and they have only had t.v for a few years), Laos (laos is prisitne compared to the rest of S.E. Asia when it comes to westenization and development. The people are lovely) and Burma (politically a police state and very closed off to the west which is what makes it so dramatic/tense/fascinating).

Every body is genuine if only they'd be given a chance. Gotta dig deep at times, tho. Gotta be magnanimous too, of course. Or simply be a damn good photographer, u-know, capturing the genuine.

Also remember when asking for a visa at the Chinese Embassy to say you are going to Lhasa and not Tibet (never mention tibet), because they deny that 'Tibet' exists. If you have to say you would like to go to 'China' and then mention Lhasa as a destination.

I wish you all the luck Wanderer, to visit all them places. It would be adequate if you could spend about a month or two in each, so that you can really explore the place.

A tourist only goes were all the tourists are going, an explorer wants to get to know the people, and the people will take him/her were not many tourists visit, or know about.

The best machines to play in Las Vegas are not in any casinos, the best machines to gamble in Vegas hapens to be in grocery stores.!

, they pay out more often, grocery stores are not as greedy. In case anyone here find themselves in Vegas, now you know.

if you do make it to the casinos never play the machines close to entrances of the place, always look for obscure and out place areas were machines may be. These have better pay outs.

Wanderer when in Brazil, don't go to Rio de Janeiro, everyone goes there, its the most tourist city there, better going to small villages close to the coast.

    Godless.
