Do som mods behave in such a way (in the private managment discuss area) that woud get the regular Sciforum posters baned if they behaved the sam way.???
Not anymore. We're at peace these days (and I'd say for the past few months). There have been discussions that got heated. It's like the Teacher's Lounge in high school, it's not as elite as it's made out to be. Because of the limited access nature of the mod fora and the need for frank--sometimes heated--discussions, the specific rules against profanity, insult and whatnot are a bit more relaxed. ~String

The desire to say 'well you know Bob'.. when answering that question is huge. Huge.. Clueless, mods fight. Sometimes down and out ugly brawls that sometimes spill out into the main forum. We can't answer your question because we don't talk about what we are discussing in the 'mod club'.. Because what happens in 'mod club' stays in 'mod club'. There seems to be this whole notion that the moderators are terrified of James or any other admin. We're not. We try to act like adults. If we do not, then one will come to their senses and tell everyone to shut up and grow up. If all else fails, we get dumped into a pit and yeah.. as commented on above by me, we get told to 'puts the lotion into the fucking basket'...Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! I kid of course. None of the admin has a white fluffy dog. At least not that we know of.... But if we disagree, then we say it. And we say why. There is no fear. For example, when I tell them all to shut the hell up, I have no fear that some crazy admin is going to come after me with a bottle of lotion.

I'd say some of the moderators tendencies to fall back on insults and threats when you try and discuss problems your having with them rather than trying to talk out the problem in an adult manner is far more of a problem. I doubt though that will change anytime soon. most of the mods I have dealt with have shown themselves incapable of dealing with a point of view other than their own. There would be a lot less conflict and bitching if the mods would listen to their victims more. yes some of the posters,probably most, who complain are just being whiny but the idea that has almost always come from the mods that when someone complains about treatment its because they are a problem poster and not because you know the mod(using as a catch all to refer to anybody above a regular poster) is being petty, vindictive, or picking favorites is well bullshit. though we probably could pick examples its just well statistically unlikely.
You know what I say to that.... F... that!!! Just kidding. I'm pretty sure Administrators and Moderators are aware that occasionally some moderators can be quite rude. I can't defend them for doing that, however the same can be said about some of the members they address, they too can be quite rude. As it's been suggested previously there is actually forum software that can be used to star out any funky words (or replace words / phrases with things like "You Kitten lover!") It's known though that the membership here doesn't like fluff or nicey nice responses, in fact most of them loath it so much, they serious would have kittens. So we are left with this current meltingpot problem of peoples personal crusades for their chosen egotistic viewpoint verse the majority recreating and not giving a Rats Anus.
Maybe we could have a thread created in SFOG which links to some of the offending posts made by the member that got banned, by way of explanation and example of what is not tolerated. Also, this will save me valuable time searching the place to find out why some asshole got shitcanned, if there are links.
