Getting prepared for alien invasion is surely a stupid thing: Suppose the Soviets were aliens, and tried to invade US.. I am sure US wouldn't hesitate or have a problem with nuking every single sq. mile of Soviet land... Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! What nuclear weapons do - they make war as it used to be obsolete.. Nobody would dare to invade a country who owns a nuclear weapon - they always have a blackjack to play... That is why this world is much more stable place than it used to be in beginning of 20th century. I think that nobody will ever detonate a nuclear bomb, since it is simply pointless.
It's not good thinking to assume that a race advanced enough to tavel the stars would be well beyond our ability to harm. I hope we will be sending people to other star systems within a century, but even then some possible locals would be able to kill us by poking us with sticks and rocks.
