    A 'field' in physics is space filled with aether and the strength of the field is the displacement of the aether from its relativistic rest position.

    Each of the plates in the Casimir effect displace the aether. The displaced aether which exists between the plates is pushing back toward each of the plates which causes the force associated with the aether displaced by each of the plates which exists between the plates to offset. This aether is more at relativistic rest than the aether which is displaced by the plates which encompasses the plates. The reduced force associated with the aether which exists between the plates along with the displaced aether which encompasses the plates which is pushing back and exerting inward pressure toward the plates causes the plates to be forced together.

    What occurs physically in nature in the Casimir effect is the same phenomenon as gravity.

    There is no such thing as non-baryonic dark matter anchored to matter. Aether has mass and physically occupies three dimensional space. Aether is physically displaced by matter.

    Displaced aether pushing back and exerting inward pressure toward matter is gravity.

    The aether which exists between the Earth and the Moon is displaced by both the Earth and the Moon and is pushing back toward the Earth and toward the Moon. This displaced aether offsets and cancels each other out to some degree. This aether is more at relativistic rest than the displaced aether which encompasses the Earth and the Moon.

    The aether which encompasses the Earth and the Moon is able to exert more pressure on the solid matter Earth than it can the liquid oceans. This, along with the molecular bonds associated with the solid matter the Earth consists of, causes the solid matter Earth to be pushed closer to the Moon than the ocean water opposite the Moon. This causes the ocean to 'rise' opposite the Moon. The aether between the Earth and Moon exerts less pressure on the ocean water than it can the solid matter Earth. This, along with the the molecular bonds associated with the solid matter the Earth consists of, causes the ocean to rise between the Earth and Moon.

    This does not answer my question.

    A couple of points here. First, wouldn't the aether be displaced uniformly? If the aether is deplaced uniformly why would the plates be affected.
    Secondly if the aether puts a force on matter that means that the aether should also have force on all matter so why is this not observed in objects moving through space?

    Do you want to discuss this or just go straight to insulting each other?

    The aether is, or behaves similar to, a supersolid. The further you are from the matter doing the displacing the less the aether is displaced by the matter. That's the whole point of the "a "field" in physics ..." quote. Think of the only thing in existence is the Earth which is displacing the aether. The aether 100 million light years from the Earth is less displaced by the Earth than the aether connected to and neighboring the particles of matter the Earth consists of. The aether 100 million light years from the Earth is more at relativistic rest with respect to the Earth than the aether connected and neighboring the Earth. The aether 100 million light years from the Earth exerts less inward pressure toward the Earth than the aether connected to and neighboring the Earth.

    It is observed, that's what gravity is. It is observed every time a double slit experiment is performed; it's what waves. It's was observed by the Gravity Probe-B experiment.

    Watch the following video starting at 0:45 to see a visual representation of the state of the aether. What is referred to as a twist in spacetime is the state of displacement of the aether.

    See how the concentric circles get further and further away from one another the further from the Earth you get? That represents the state of displacement of the aether. The further you get from the Earth the less the aether is displaced by the Earth from its relativistic rest position with respect to the Earth.

    "Imagine the Earth as if it were immersed in honey," says Francis Everitt of Stanford University in California, the mission's chief scientist. "As the planet rotates, the honey around it would swirl, and it's the same with space and time."

    The 'swirl' is the state of displacement of the aether.

    The state of the aether as determined by its connections with the Earth and the state of the aether in neighboring places is the state of displacement of the aether.

    The offset is due to the galaxy clusters moving through the aether. The analogy is a submarine moving through the water. You are under water. Two miles away from you are many lights. Moving between you and the lights one mile away is a submarine. The submarine displaces the water. The state of displacement of the water causes the center of the lensing of the light propagating through the water to be offset from the center of the submarine itself. The offset between the center of the lensing of the light propagating through the water displaced by the submarine and the center of the submarine itself is going to remain the same as the submarine moves through the water. The submarine continually displaces different regions of the water. The state of the water connected to and neighboring the submarine remains the same as the submarine moves through the water even though it is not the same water the submarine continually displaces. This is what is occurring physically in nature as the galaxy clusters move through and displace the aether.

    The Milky Way's halo being lopsided is evidence of it.

    The Milky Way's halo is lopsided due to the matter in the Milky Way moving through and displacing the aether.

    If what you are asking is why doesn't stuff slow down the definition of a supersolid is stuff doesn't slow down as it moves through it.

    You are in a bowling alley filled with a supersolid. You roll the bowling ball. The bowling ball displaces the supersolid. The supersolid displaces the bowling ball as the it fills-in where the bowling ball had been. By definition, the bowling ball never slows down and rolls forever through the supersolid.

    Q. Does the bowling ball displace the supersolid or does the supersolid displace the bowling ball?
    A. Both occur simultaneously with equal force.

    The energy is the limit. The CMBR photon energy is < the minimum energy required to interact with matter [be absorbed, be emitted, etc.]. The CMBR is the component, at recombination, that will never interact with matter ever again. That's why it's such a valuable signature for doing cosmological science.

    Your aether does not act like a super solid. A super solid does not have a density gradient between the surface of a bowling ball (for instance) and 5 inches from the bowling ball. In a super solid or any fluid the there will be a pressure on the bowling ball but there will not be a force that pushes anything towards the surface fo the bowling ball. There is nothing in a description of fluid or a super solid that resembles the force of gravity.

    What does that mean? The aether (or super solid) is either displaced or it is not. The concept of less displaced doesn't make sense.

    You will have to explain this much better than this. Math would be nice but I guess it is not necessary. The idea of 'less' displaced aether or a 'less' displaced super solid just doesn't make sense - it is a deal breaker unless you can explain how that is possible.

    Let's hold off on the double slit experiment and try to get through this aethereal gravity.

    This scenario is exactly the type of behaviour that a super solid does not exhibit. My understanding is that a super solid has zero viscosity so it would not act in the manner Francis Everitt described.

    The aether is, or behaves similar to, a supersolid, which is described in the following article as the 'fluidic' nature of space itself. The article describes a 'back reaction' associated with the 'fluidic' nature of space itself. This is the displaced aether 'displacing back'.

    The relativistic mass of an object is the mass of the object and the mass of the aether connected to and neighboring the object which is displaced by the object. The faster an object moves with respect to the state of the aether in which it exists the greater the displacement of the aether by the object the greater the relativistic mass of the object.

    Don't bother. He thinks all 'that stuff' is equivalent and indistinguishable from an aether. It reduces to GR. LOL. He can't find his theoretical ass with one hand much less two. Why this is allowed to continue in the science threads is confusing to me? Previous precedent was: sock puppet_gravitational_aether threads were confined to the Alternative Science Section. Now the discourse is good enough for the Science and Math section?

    You said, "Math would be nice". Now you have your math. You are also having a great deal of difficulty understanding how the aether is, or behaves similar to, a supersolid. That's what the incompressible fluid referred to in the linked to articles is analogous to.

    You also have Francis Everitt describing empty space as being analogous to honey. Honey has mass.

    You also have Robert Laughlin, Nobel Laureate, describing the relativistic ether as being analogous to matter, fluids, solids, a piece of window glass and stuff; all of which have mass.

This is unfortunate because, stripped of these connotations, it rather nicely captures the way most physicists actually think about the vacuum. . . .     Aether displaced by matter relates general relativity and quantum mechanics.
