Sony’s new patent for a "smart" contact lens includes some pretty cool tech—such as the ability to record and playback images, store them internally, and even autofocus.
A key component of the new contact lens technology is that the camera recorders "know" when you’re deliberately blinking, as opposed to the natural, involuntary blinks; these deliberate motions activate the mechanisms of the camera.

Google also files patent for cyborg eye lenses. In its patent application, which the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office approved last week, Google says it could remove the lens of your eye, inject fluid into your empty lens capsule and then place an electronic lens in the fluid.
Once equipped with your cyborg lenses, you would never need glasses or contacts again. In fact, you might not even need a telescope or a microscope again. And who needs a camera when your eyes can capture photos and videos?

Useful no doubt as a bridge or transitional step from human to full AI. A hybrid T-model Ford/Lamborghini is 'an interesting novel concept' but not likely to last long in the market place.
