As I said, I have performed one on my father out of necessity.. You would be amazed at what people are willing to do in emergency situations involving a loved one. Although he asked me if I had performed one on an animal and I answered no. I know quite a few people who have had to do it actually. It's not that uncommon. My best friend performed one on her younger brother when he collapsed in a diabetic fit and stopped breating and she could not get his mouth open for mouth to mouth since his jaw was locked so tightly that she couldn't open his mouth.. and she just cut.. then she called the ambulance.. she is quite fearless though... I used to work with a woman who had performed one. My sister in law performed one on a workmate.

Yes and no. Yes because human suffering is more likely to affect me in a negative way. And no because I am guessing that the pain receptors in a puppy are no different than the pain receptors in a human child.
