Well hopefully the title got your attention at least for a moment, so I will keep this brief. (This might or might not be hypothetical) Sciforums could potentially be up for a change, it's up to you the posters to decide which way it goes. Does it attempt to become a serious science forum which will likely see a number of 'characters' leave or be evicted, or does it become more casual and attempt to get the moderation team to be casual too? (Currently moderators might be seen as' knowitall intellectuals with power' and this could mean a change in how they *are*, not just perceived) Make your vote count, put it to the poll and we'll see where this goes.
It should stay as it is. Plenty of science for all and an internet forum where one is free to speak/converse/communicate/debate/enquire/dag around/be serious.
so here is what i want from voters. some additional input tell me what sci means to you. tell me what you imagine it to be. now i will show you how harsh i can be. stryder's options are not unique to himself. they have been touted over the years by other mods. therefore i am not singling my beloved moderator out for whatnot an indictment of the administration and its iq. gird yourselves, mods. i bring to the table, logic and rationality. you bring your knee jerk reactions
Could you be persuaded to bring some punctuation, clarity and details as well? This is a serious proposition.
what makes good science? a mathematical equation? or the logic that underlies the thought process? or both? can it be argued that the most mundane of thought and activities involves an application of scientific methodologies? if impeccable in reasoning, can it find its place in sci?
He does have the punctuation. It's the letter capitalization that you're thinking of. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! A suggestion from me would be to model it sort of like some other forums; most of the forums are for serious discussion, but they always have 1, maybe 2 forums that allow for a more open discussion, even free-for-alls in some forums. Maybe let the Free Thoughts forum be the 'free-for-all' and just put stricter protocol restrictions on the other forums meant for serious discussion. The mods would have to be more consistent on their moderation of those forums though.
religion/free thoughts/arts and culture/cesspool/atb/sfog/pseudo will you delete if vote is in favor of true sci site if not, why?
If sciforums is to be a science forums, my suggestions: 1. delete politics and world events; delete religion. 2. free thoughts should be related to science (what is now under pseudoscience) 3. delete threads that have no scientific content. 4. have a chat forum for inane trolling and about members. Members who contribute ONLY in these forums should be deleted. That would do it.
stfu i shall pay special attention to you option 1 will have you stripped of modship and banishment i shall avail myself to anyone here for a brief q&a session to establish my sci creds. in turn, i get to have a go at the interrogator /smirk
clarity and detail indeed. i propose an immediate stripping of modship it is right there in front of your eyes erroneous calls. do it!
thats not fair, thats hitler like, moderators dont like free thoughts forum so you can delete it, and also, why should the be deleted, so what you telling me is you want sci forums to be for the select few instead of everyone, i.e moderators and they're buddies
you need to leave you are unfit in logic and rationality all that verbiage could be summed as...keep sci the way it is
I studied English composition and structure. I suggest an investment in Wren and Martin. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punctuation
Why would you suggest that? I see that you have more than your fair share of posts in all three of the aforementioned forums. Then it shouldn't be called Free Thoughts. :bugeye: That will require consistent moderation. And so far, you seem to be the only mod that is trigger happy about deleting posts that don't suit how you would like the thread to go. have no scientific content. Unless the only thing that member is doing in that forum is trolling, this is a stupid idea. Maybe they want to stop by and chat with the other members here that they have a rapport with. If they aren't causing trouble, spamming, trolling or goading, then what's wrong with them coming in here to chat? That would do it.[/QUOTE]
but free thoughts has little to do with science, and to do away with that wouldnt be fair, anyway what members would you delete given a chance.
And you need to get Hooked on Phonics. I can't take anyone seriously who can't even take the time to make a post with proper grammar. You are unfit in making coherent posts. It could also be summed up as that maybe the mods could be more consistent with ther moderation and we really wouldn't HAVE to change anything.
