More accurately, the political system was invaded and hijacked by special interests. Instead of a "for the people" government we eneded up with a "for the special interests" government.

No, the problem is humans, and human behavior. And in your case, the problem of being a fanatical convert who is impervious to any facts that contradict his dogma.

Let us look back at Russia when it collapsed because it ran out of money because it wasn't running its banking system very well. America came to help Russia with billions of American dollars if you will remember to help Russia start anew. So every system has flaws.

    An inevitability under capitalism.

Actually, you are the one fanatically defending a system of exploitation.
Russia had to be the way it was because capitalists were trying to corrupt it; there SHOULD NOT BE banks to begin with under communism, so the fact that Russia had monetary problems is the fault of the other, capitalist nations, not Russia itself.

So Russia wasn't to blame for using almost all their money to make weapons? Where is the capitalist involved within Russian military? Where was the capitalist involved with Russian economic principals ? PLease link me to where these facts are so I can review them for I cannot remember anything about capitalists involved within the Russian economic system when it failed.

I've defended nothing, fanatically or otherwise. I make no pretense of knowing all the answers. But I'm extremely suspicious of people who think they do.

The answer is obvious in your statement: Russia had to make weapons. Why?

Why did Russia have to make weapons?
Because capitalists the world over were trying to destroy the Russian experiment.

I don't think I know all the answers; but I do believe communism has a place in the future.

So the various famines which killed millions, millions more executed for political reasons, the poverty, the repression, forced labor camps, ethnic cleansing.....it was all because of foreign banks?

When you were in school the system went something like:

    A
    B
    C
    D
    F

A credit rating list is more like:
    AAA
    AA+
    AA
    AA-
    etc.

For a look at the whole shebang see, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Credit_rating

Yes, we'd much rather just appoint you as Secretary General of the Proletarian Revolutionary Council so you can wear a grey Doctor Evil suit, boss us around all day and send millions of people to gulags for disagreeing. That'll surely fix all our problems!

Russia was forced into an arms race because after WWII they began a campaign of invasion and conquer. Russia became the Soviet Block through force. This evolved into an arms race as the west led by the USA prepared for a fear unresisted Soviet expansion.

Communism's only practical application and success has been in small groups where it is possible to achieve government by consensus.

Russia or more accurately the Soviet Union was never a communist nation in more than name. It was a system of forced socialism. Much the same can be said for China, though in China communal farms and similar rural communities came or come close.

By contrast the US is not a Democracy. It is a Representative form of government. Though capitalism exists and is encouraged, the US Government in practice represents a legislated socialistic society.

The US did not start out that way. However, the pressures of an unregulated corporate structure and constant consolidation of wealth, required and still requires limiting regulation to protect the general population and the social economic structure as a whole.

I disagree. So far this appears to be unique to the U.S.

S&P rated Enron as AAA, until it suddenly imploded. S&P rated all sorts of junk mortgage-backed securities as AAA, and guess how well that turned out? Other than managers for funds that are forbidden by their charter to invest in anything other that AAA-rated stuff, who cares about S&P ratings?

The simple answer is that we are fucked unless the government stops playing politics and starts governing for the people. Both parties are so dam wrapped up in their "party line politics" that they cannot see their own nose. Both sides need to stop doing what gets them re-elected and start doing whats actually best for our country.

No we are fucked until people start living in their fucking means. Including the governments. They simply can't afford their current government/military/social programs.

Everyone needs to deal with the coming pain or deal with even worse pain.

Yes, and falling into poverty (uneven distribution of resources due to), corruption, and stagnation (no competition = no innovation) are just as inevitable under communism/socialism so........
