Robot playing Air Hockey

    Is the robot hitting it to score or is it just blindly hitting it like a newbie?

    The latter.

    And the human is going easy on him, too.

    In the latter portion of the video, they show the robot's eye view and you see that his viewpoint is really quite shaky. It makes me wonder if they use software steadicam (probably not the real name) to stabilize the jerkiness or if the computer actually uses that jerky video in its computations?


    For some reason, the part where the puck is halfway out and the robot belatedly reaches out to bat at it... I don't know why, but it seems... like an extremely human and life-like move.

    The movements this robot makes border on the uncanny valley. This is what reminds me of a Tool video.

    What university/institution is responsible for developing that robot?

    Sad to say anyway that robot makes me look bad at air hockey. I lose all powers of coordination at that game..
