I am versed in topology, yes.

Topologically, a torus is of the same form as a square donut. That is because topology, by its nature, ignores key geometries of an object and concentrates on surfaces.

Topologically, this object is equivalent to a sphere, but you're not going to assert that this object is a sphere, now are you?

Agree. It was big of River to acknowledge.

Michael was simply taking the OP's post as face-value. He gets to do that.

No, he does not get to do that. It's called posting from an uninformed position.

    Yes, he really does.

It was actually the OP that posted from an uninformed position. The OP opened with a statement about a torus. (Which tuned out to be incorrect.)

Some posters looked for an independent source, but there is nothing wrong with Michael simply taking the OP at his word. The OP wanted answer about such a torus; the OP did not actually want to hear about alternate explanations.

Michael obliged the OP and took his assertion as a given.

You're not the arbiter of how other people are allowed to answer.

Bad to refer to someone's faith so loosely.

You took on Jan in the relevant thread, why making a sidey comment when he is not on this thread?

No, river admitted that it was a mistake. So OP was well placed. Janus pointed the mistake and river acknowledged.

Raising OP from a position of ignorance or position of mistake (improper understanding or interpretation) is fine as long as the person acknowledges once the issue is clarified. River mistakenly understood as torus, once pointed out, he revisited after an initial resistance, and corrected his position. That's absolutely in order.

He was the one who brought it to the table for examination.

As a cautionary tale about claiming things without backing them up.

What? Michael can time travel? River recanted in post 35.

Until that time, his assertion about toruses was still the main topic of thread.

Certainly. And now that is done.

It has, however, spawned a tangent between he and I about what a right angled torus might mean. This has no bearing on the OP's question, nor did Michael suggest it does.

Someone may ask for the tread to be closed if they wish, but often that won't happen if the thread continues to be productive on a tangential topic.

Similarly, this is topologically equivalent to a torus:

Then you don't know what faith is. Faith does not require any rational backing up.

You have made a choice not to believe in the existence of God, fair enough. But do not discredit or snide those who believe in the existence of God.

You were not following the thread.
Something I pointed out many times is that faith does not need to be defended.
But Jan brought his beliefs to the table, in the form of assertions, and opened them up for scrutiny. That was his choice.

All I ever asked from him in that forum was to acknowledge that it was faith that he has. He refused acknowledge it as faith, insisting it was fact.

His belief was fine. His assertion of fact was not.

How about you stay on-topic. This silly arbiter- trolling is why you're on Ignore in the first place.

Do I care whether you keep me on ignore or not? Nope. But do you really? at least not in this thread so far, so it is just a silly pompous stand that oh I keep so and so on ignore. Take a stand, don't lurk around those poster's posts whom you want to ignore. Either ignore or don't.

First you boasted about "if torus then you would have remembered".. Then you supported Michael drag posts, then you in bad taste brought in Jan belief when he was not here to counter. I vaguely remember in one of those threads Tiassa served you very well.

And can you stop me from being arbiter? You very easily called river OP as uninformed, then why can I not call your bluff? He was nice enough to admit, you have no grace to acknowledge and you are still defending yourself on both Michael and Jan count.

Ignore...you cannot.. It takes some inner strength to do, do you have that?

    Ho-Hum! . . . . . Excuse me for interupting . . . . . isn't this thread about 'right angle torus'? . . . . and NOT Jan's belief system . . . that's another thread . . . . perhaps get back on topic?

Torus is closed, as the matter was resolved to the full satisfaction of OP. It is just....bringing someone's curry out.

    This is what TG does.

    Bringing someone's curry out ~ calling someone's bluff ~

You have not contributed anything to this thread. Its apparent that you read the thread before Janus resolved it, you were scratching your head whether torus was used or not or may be you were taking cue how to write something about right angled torus. You just pumped in once the thread was significantly resolved. After that you trolled river prejudiced by his past posts and brought Jan into picture unnecessarily.

#Oh I believe that the God exists but the fact is that the God does not exist.#

This is what you wanted from Jan.

It is apparent that you just type for the sake of it, you do not apply your mind.
