we are going to play a little game now that i nicely dubbed,


"Prove It"


i am going to only say "prove it" to every explanation and answer anybody gives, to the questions i will ask and want "proved"


rememebr i will only say the 2 words "prove it" after this post.


prove to me that,


Time exists,
light beams are indipendant,
black holes exist,
the big bang theory is true,
string theory is true,
theory of reletivity is true.






lets see how these theorys stand the test of the "prove it" game.


or lets see if people get annoyed/pissed. and quit halfway through after about 50 pages

String theory is still quite a work in progress. No one claims it's true.

Time, as defined as the the duration between events as measured by a suitable chronograph, exists by definition.

 

I've got some for you Empty.

- electrons exist.
- the stars we see at night are examples of objects like our sun
- air is composed largely of nitrogen and oxygen molecules
- molecules exist

Maybe when you understand how we know things like this are basically true you'll understand the others.

 

Theories can only be proven false, never true. Otherwise, we'd call them "facts" instead of "theories."

 

As quadraphonics said, the theory of relativity can not be proven true. As a matter of fact, it is a fact that it does not give a complete picture.

However, certain observations have been made...
Time dilation due to relative velocity is a fact.
Time dilation due to a gravity well is a fact.
That gravity bends light (or gravity lensing) is a fact.

All of these are predictions made by the theory of relativity.

So while relativity may not give a complete picture, it sure seems to be on the right track.

 

Exactly. You cannot prove a theory true. If you could, then it would not be a theory. So what do you mean by prove it?

 

Given that you are referring to "theories" and "testing", you probably think that this childish game has something to do with science and testing the validity of various astrophysical theories.

If you want to learn about these areas of science, your time would be better spent reading a textbook rather than engaing in this nonsense which will not prove anything (other than your childishness).<P>
