    [thread=47363]Relativity[/thread]
    An intro to relativity from first principles.

    What is a reference frame?
    Relativity is all about translating measurements between different reference frames. For beginners, here is a concise description of what a reference frame is.

    Special Relativistic time dilation and length contraction
    Here is a derivation of two of the well-known effects of relativity, based on a particular example. The derivation starts from first principles and derives the relativistic results mathematically.

    Challenges to relativity

    Twin paradox
    One of the most-viewed threads on the forum. This one covers one particular "twin" scenario in detail, from many different angles, and a lot more besides. The first couple of pages of posts are slow, but things soon get interesting...

    Is the theory of relativity fatally flawed?
    Another wide-ranging discussion.

    Common misconceptions

    Student understanding of time in Special Relativity
    Many students of relativity cling to previous misconceptions about the theory. Here is some research into this.

    LaTeX Instructions, how to, examples, etc. http://www.sciforums.com/showthread.php?t=61223

    The use of LaTeX in this forum is STRONGLY ENCOURAGED. It only takes a few minutes to learn (honestly), and it makes comunication WORLDS easier. Just ask Reiku.

    I go here from time to time to refresh my head on various laws/rules. I like it because its easy to stumble accross new information looking for old information.

    Not sure if it’s up to accredited standards but I've found no flaw in the information so far.
