The reasons behind this are complex, but they are very interesting. To my understanding, if I may ask not to be quoted on this, the sudden, unexpected push for alternative motor fuels may have led to an accelerated depreciation in "inefficient" automobiles that the banks had not been given time to take into account. Furthermore, our auto industry was caught very much off-guard; note that GMC, which is as American as chewing tobacco and bourbon whiskey, did a tail-spin nose-dive.

If we are going to spend resources on alternative energy, our spending must be absolutely rock-steady. The market must have time to adjust.

This is the problem, Buffalo Roam. This is what we are talking about investing our resources in trying to change.

Yes. We have plenty of Democrats in office right now, so we can't possibly go wrong, short of being hit by a meteorite. The economy should start picking up within the year, and jobs should start coming back next year. Hopefully, this will be the last Christmas for a while that we spend counting our pennies and our blessings. No more bubble economies, and no more spenda-palooza-dun-owah-tiam-doina.

The reform of health care has gone wrong, with no real hope of a good outcome - can't really blame the Reps for that, despite all their hard work and united efforts to create disaster.

The Republicans/Conservatives/Tea Baggers or whatever they are calling themselves these days have done a Great Job of creating a disaster. The truely sad part is that they remain oblivious to the mess they created. They have passed on responsibility for their miss deeds to the so called RHINOs. Unfortunately, their minions are 99% RHINOs or former RHINOS.
