    Very nice indeed

I would also suggest that you don't tinker with the main page once you're settled on the theme you like best.

Having to re-acquainte (sp?) yourself with where the nav buttons are can be frustrating sometimes.

    This site helped me alot.

    Black? No. Just No.

There is no visual hierarchy. A viewer needs the page to tell him/her what to look at and in what order to do it. If you are going to use a formally balanced page, everything has to line up real sweet, like old english gardens. Hide the news items on another page, 'cept perhaps the first and link to them. Kill the frills: moonphase, counter, scrolling applet thingy. Less is better.

There is too much information. Two menus, too many items. Kill and merge.

Hide the disclaimer, kill the banner. Less stuff, more whitespace.

Consider a different title banner. That one is serifed and has a marbly effect and clashes with the grotesque fonts and futuristic horiz menu. Make the text font verdana and larger. The lines are too long: wrap or make the text bigger.

Make the links a different color so you can see where they are.

    Nice though.

Black has it's uses when you look at the spectral output of a monitor for instance, If your using a CRT a white screen is intense amounts of radiation in comparison to a black one. However if you were looking for a colour that doesn't cause visual problems, think of the colours in a sunset or sun rise (Notibly the evening red/orange glow) theory is that because it's towards the red scale of the spectrum it's less damaging on the eye sight.

Actually while on the subjects of websites, I remember about three months ago (or longer) there was a piece in the press about how website creators should learn how to create websites that are better navigated by the partially sighted or blind.

This meant that things like text on backgrounds should be the absolute opposite to the background (i.e. black on white) and that the backgrounds to the page shouldn't be textures where the writing can be indistinguishable.

It should also be noted that when you see browns and greens, some people can't distinguish the difference between the two, which admittedly means a little research on the usual colours that people get mixed up with.

With every image you have within your site, place a written definition with the ALT and TITLE tags of HTML, this allows people that are blind to navigate the site with their Speech readers. (Which read the descriptions to them).

bright orange on black is easy on the eyes? What are you? A bee???

Eeek. Sciforums is easy on the eyes...
Hotmail *sigh* is easy on the eyes.

That grabs your eyeball out with sharp claws and jams cocktail forks into them.

Well, it doesn't look the same on a white background...

...and no one has complained about cocktail forks being jammed into their eyes

caffine, how did you make the site? I'm curious. I've seen this kind of thing before and I haven't got a clue of where people get them from.

Other than that, it look good. I like it

BTW Caffeine, I like it the way you have it now. Just the home bar at the top looks somewhat stretched.
