Congratulations to MIT, the first school in the world to offer engineering courses online - And BOY did they outdo themselves !!! Check out the OpenCourseWare, the educational parallel to Open Source software...

- lecture materials
- lecture videos
- exam materials
- problem sets & solutions


By yr.2007 they plan to have ~2000 courses available online to anyone and everyone!!!

Hypertextbooks

I checked out their introductory biology course... they have everything online:

- course outlines
- labs
- practice questions & solutions
- exam questions & solutions
- calendars
- even a biology hypertextbook (what appears to be an entire textbook online)



They haven't filled out all the courses yet, just a few samples in each program, but if all goes according to the schedule this will all happen in the next 4 years with around 2000 courses available.

Still, I can't access scientific publications online, just abstracts. Libraries across America are filled to overflow with volumes of journal articles, and only abstracts are available. It's a stumbling block to independent research readers like me.

Okay, so can someone explain to me how this works? I wanted to look at political sciences but it just gave me a link to the homepage, no courses to look at. Help me out damnit I wanna learn!!
