I had my semi-lateral meniscus removed in 1962 while playing RL football.
At that time it required open surgery, two weeks in hospital, and six weeks off work.
Now days keyhole surgery, sees it as a same day procedure and back at work.

I should be more careful on you , you are an old fellow with a busted knee, and you can not run ha ha

How did you tear it are you sure you have a tear
From playing basketball, I think it came from forceful change of direction. I had an MRI and results said that there is a defect/tear on the body/anterior horn of the lateral meniscus

So, after those 6 weeks, was it more or less back to normal with regards to your knee? I mean, were you able to play football competitively?

Remember, my operation was in 1962: Today its in and out in one day, and even entire knee reconstructions are common place with quick recuperation time.
If you need it, go for it!
Alright, thanks! I really appreciate your insight.
