Looks like Erich Honecker, former head of the German Democratic Republic (DDR), better known as East Germany.

Guy on the left is Tito, former leader of communist Yugoslavia. Not sure about the Asian, but since he's not Mao or Ho, the two prominent communist leaders of that era, first guess would be U Thant, former secretary of the UN.

The one in the middle is obviously the 'sun disc' flag, which represents the sun on a white field. Honestly not familiar with the other two, although I do know that horizontal colors represented various emotions in Japanese culture, but what those two mean I couldn't say. However, the child on the right seems to be dressed in Chinese garb, while the one in the middle is dressed in 20th century Japanese? clothing and the one on the left appears to be dressed in traditional ancient Japanese clothing. It may be some sort of cultural exchange/friendship poster, but I still don't know what the other two flags represent.

Upper left flag is of Manchuria and the far right is almost the same thing. I'd have to say the scene representation has to do with all the fighting and mass killings that went on during there in and that there's finally peace in that region between the Jap and Chinese slaughters??

Btw, the slaughtering that make's Hitler's holocaust look like nothing. That's the only thing I can't stand about all the focus on the holocaust. The worst attraucities happened by the Japs. While Hitler focused mainly on Jews, the Japanese slaughtered flat out anyone not Japanese.

Obviously the middle flag is the Japanese flag, the other two are much harder to know. The one of the left is the flag of the Japanese puppet state of Manchukuo, Neildo almost had it right, although I cannot accept Manchuria. The one on the right is the flag of China under Japanese occupation, it was initially the flag of the republic of China after the 1912 revolution, but it was reinstituted by the Japanese. Now the next question which is harder:

This flag belonged to which country, and for extra credit, why did the flag of this country change? Good Luck!

My hunch is Brazil, but I can't say why. Guess it must be the colours.

Is the flag from the "Empire of Brazil" ca. 1822 to 1889, then the flag changed when the government changed to the Republic of the United States of Brazil?

Did you cheat? Because if you knew so much how did you get the first answer wrong? I am very suspicious. But it is correct. Ok next one:

This is a picture from a war to stop an Empire, which occurred immediately after the American Civil War. Which countries fought, and against whom?

I didn't know you could cheat. My first response was an outright guess, my second response was based on minimal research.
