Twice recently other posters have refered to me as "having a boner" and from what I can tell, no moderator action occurred in either one of the threads.

So my question is: Is this an acceptable level of discourse on this forum?

And if it is, can I include in my posts to the various female members of the forum, including female moderators: "I bet the thought of X gets you WET" ?

You have to be putting us on at this point. I mean, this has to be a Borat-style farce, right?

You are free to try. However rest assured you will lose what little bit of credibility you have left on this site.

As has been pointed out in the past, moderators do not read every single post made on this site. If you find a post or comment objectionable, then your recourse is to hit the report button and advise why you find it offensive. If you feel that what is being done is not enough, please PM a moderator(s) or an administrator with your concern.

    The obvious question

What did the relevant moderators say when you inquired about such posts?

I didn't think I needed to report it since two moderators, you and Bells were posting in one of the threads, and neither of you made a peep about it.

Though I thought it would be obvious:

Posting gratuitous comments or images of an obscene, sexual, violent or graphic nature.

maybe these posters just didn't know that asking if I had a "raging boner" is against the rules?

And given that I expected one of the two moderators posting in the thread to speak up when they saw an obvious violation.

But maybe it's not a violation since nothing happened in either of the threads, so I thought I'd just ask here in SFOG to find out if fantasizing about another member's level of sexual arrousal is considered acceptable on this forum.

    Is it?

Interesting, why couldn't you just answer my question Bells?

Instead you provide NO information but respond to my query with a personal attack.

"Boner" is on the verge of becoming respectable slang in America. Even when used literally, as when Jon Stewart referred to a guest's large-format book as an ideal "boner shield" for boys in high-school. When used figuratively it is close to being as unremarkable as calling someone a "pussy."

Bear in mind that we have to have a high tolerance for profanity, since the majority of our members are immature, either chronologically or emotionally. Or in many cases both.

I think we all have to have a pretty thick skin to get along here. I'm one of the oldest people on this website (1943) and I've managed. So I'm sure it won't be hard for you younger folks.

    The obvious point

Hell, I don't even know at this point what threads you're referring to.

If you would like our opinions, we need to be able to assess the incidents.

That doesn't change that such language is anti-intellectual. It is wrong to insult strangers.

Well the thought of doing so made me "wet", Borat.

When you broach the subject and ask you if you can ask if certain things 'make me wet', and you made sure to include the female moderator (ie me), in your question, did you actually expect me to take you seriously? Really?

Contrary to what you may believe, I actually do not read every single post to you in a thread. I don't find it arousing to do so. Alternatively, you could just provide a link to which posts you are talking about.

Actually I didn't know you were the only female moderator Bells.

Given their various non-gender specific posting ids how does one tell?

And yes, I asked that because in my experience some things aren't percieved as wrong until you change the gender. (I can't believe you've never seen that phenomenon Bells)

Does it matter which post Bells?

The question is real simple: another poster fantasized about a post giving me "a raging boner".

Is this an acceptable level of discourse or not?

Yes or No, should be the answer.

If the answer is YES, then I presume we can also fantasize about a post having various physiological arrousal affects on the female members of this forum.

    Correct?

Actually no. You see, the company I keep tends to not discuss what things make me wet and what makes the men get boners. Strange, I know, we don't really discuss either.

Of course, if this is the case in your vast experience on this matter, judging by your authoritative stance on this issue, I will bow to you as the expert on such forms of conversation...

    Yes. Actually it does.

It is hard for me to say. Was it a joke? Did you ask if it made them wet or hard? Context is everything and since it is blatantly clear that you were offended by it, I find it surprising that you seem to be refusing to provide links.

Could you please provide a link? We are not able to act if you fail or refuse to provide a link.

If that is what gets your rocks off, then my saying yes or no will be irrelevant, as even if I say no, you will still get your rocks off or "fantasize about posts having various physiological arousal affects" on the women/girls on this forum.

Since you seem to refuse to provide a link, I did a search. Only one post made such a comment to you. Why did you not report it? Or is it because you want to be given an excuse to fantasize about the physiological arousal your posts may have on female posters? You see, I find this astounding. Your response to this individual in that thread was to show disapproval.. In fact, you referred to it as "BS", yet you did not report it. Why not?

Don't you think a report would have been more sufficient instead of starting a thread about it and word it like a hypothetical, in which you then go on to ask if you can ask me and other women here if we get wet reading your and other people's posts? To respond to that question, by the way, I can assure you, your name invokes the Sahara Desert for me. I cannot, of course, speak for other women here. For some, it could be Antarctica.

Now that is out of the way, I again ask, why did you not report it?

And the company I keep doesn't do that either.
Which is why I don't particularly want it on this forum either.

    Why?

The context was real simple Bells I was asked if I got a "raging boner" when Tiassa made a mistake.

    No it wasn't a joke.

    No, I didn't respond.

Bells, I really had no desire to get the posters in trouble for it. I'm not asking for you to act, just make the policy clear.

Is this an acceptable level of discourse for this forum or not?

Is that so difficult a concept to understand?

It's one thing to use a slang term when discussing something in the abstract, it's not quite the same when one makes it a personal issue is it?

If not, why is this even listed in the rules:

Posting gratuitous comments or images of an obscene, sexual, violent or graphic nature.

Which is why you asked if you would be allowed to ask the female posters if something made them wet?

Because you were obviously offended enough to start a thread about it.

You actually did respond to it when you advised the individual that their comment about you getting a boner was "BS".

And yet, you earlier complained about the fact that two moderators were partaking in that discussion and had not taken any moderator action of it, to your knowledge that is. So if you do not want the individual to get into trouble for it (your complaint that they didn't get into touble aside that is), you don't want to link it, you don't want to report it, what exactly do you want?

You have already linked the part of the rules which makes such comments was against the rules and you even linked the rules. So one would assume that you would be able to tell by now that it isn't acceptable, especially when not in jest. The policy is quite clear. So I ask again, what exactly is the point of this thread? We know the policy is clear as there is a distinct rule against it, we know you were offended enough to start a thread about it after you called the comment "BS" in the thread, but you not only did not report the individual, you also refuse to link it in case the individual gets into trouble. What more do you want, exactly? The only thing you seem to want to know thus far is whether you can ask women if they are "wet".

    So what's the deal Arthur?

You answered your own question earlier when you posted the rules which dealt directly with this subject matter.

Is that hard for you to understand?

Or are you trying to find a loophole in which you can sexually harrass women on this forum?

You must be a pretty disgusting person to try and turn around a thread about inappropriate sexual comments and use it to attack the the person who raised the issue in the first place. Kind of like those rapists who try to make their victims feel guilty for being raped and going to the police, even blaming them for getting raped.

You are free to your opinion Will. But he raised the point, refused to link it, refused to report it, yet felt offended enough to start a thread about it, whereupon he then asks if this means he can ask women if certain arguments or points make them wet. He specifically mentioned me with this request. How exactly do you think I should have responded to him? What response do you think he deserved?

The point about the comment made to him is a valid one and a serious one. It amounts to sexual harrassment. He even linked the rules to show that it is not acceptable here. Yet he asks if because someone asked him if he got a boner because someone made a mistake, whether it means he can now ask women if they are wet because of what is being discussed in a particular thread or topic? Really?

Because he has gone to being offended enough to complain that no moderator action took place against this individual while refusing to report the individual or provide a link because he doesn't want them to get into trouble, being offended enough to start a thread about it to then say in that same thread, asking if he can ask women if they are wet. And he went further by asking if he could ask me that question. I don't know Will. How should I respond to a request from someone about whether they can sexually harrass me or not?

    Mod Hat — Closure

    Mod Hat — Closure

As Adoucette seems to really not want to provide links for us to review the threads and posts in question, continuing this discussion seems a futile endeavor.
