I'd like to know where exactly this disputed area is and how it relates to the position of the British.

Why did they go around the territorial waters to the Iranian side in inflatable boats? Seems rather unnecessary, unless there are geographic reasons?

    PS Thanks

each side will say it was on their side of the line.
considering the Iranian government are lying murdering sacks of crap, i'd suspect they're not telling the truth.

but given the fact that UK forces are inspecting ships there routinely, i know that the Iranians are lying and that this was blatant kidnapping

    Very objective.

What have the Iranians lied about?

I just have to ask, Sam ......what would you have said if the US Navy had captured Iranian sailors in the "so-called" Iraqi territorial waters? ...and took them into custody? ...and took them to prison at Gauntanamo?

Would you have been so easy-going about it?

Actually it makes perfect sense for Iranians to be there, since Iran is next door.

However it makes no sense at all for the British to be there. At all.

It would be like finding Iranian troops in inflatable boats off the coast of England or Florida.

If the boats weren't in Iranian waters, how come the frigate was unable to intervene?

According to the story, the Iranian navy was right there waiting, and willing to trespass into Iraqi waters with a British frigate standing guard. Meanwhile, the Brits launched two rubber boats with basically unarmed men under the guns of Iranian warships nearby.

And no one is willing to say exactly where the whole thing happened - the Brits GPS on the fritz, or something?

This isn't making sense, as reported.

To me, this has "act of war" written all over it. The British should go in, grab their sailors, and maybe bomb a few nuclear facilities while they're at it.

It makes just as much sense for Iranians to be in Iraqi territorial waters to kidnap British sailors as it does for Iranian sponsored Hezbollah to be in Israel to kidnap Israeli soldiers.

Because Hezbollah is right next door. Eureka!!

If it sounds like a duck fart, and it smells like a duck fart...

You're not the first to confirm that complex things -- like Special Relativity -- on their face make no sense.

As was true with SR, the senselessness was not its fault.

More nonsense, the Iranians are within their rights to capture foreign troops in their waters.

The British are hardly in a position to be sanctimonious. Their history is painted in blood.

The Iranians OTOH have not invaded or colonised other peoples.

    Who?

The question is moot. There was no attack:
