Hi, I know this has been done and I have nothing to boast about,
but my sis showed me this website, and those stats are beautiful.

http://www.speedtest.net

Here are mine:

I'm going to upgrade my connection to 5mbits next week, because my ISP is upgrading all accounts for free if you ask for it. I don't really need that much speed, but the potential is nice to have, especially while updating my Linux distros.

Oh, and suprisingly Latvia is in the 3rd place in the world in speed according to that website. http://www.speedtest.net/global.php

It's very surprising and me and my sis can't figure out why Latvia is so high as it is.

Apparently the demand for pornography is particularly high in Latvia.

This is one of the things that is a bad joke here in the U.S. I live ten miles outside of a fair sized city in California. My only internet options are 28.8 dial up, or satellite. I finally had to break down and get the satellite connection, because I couldn't stand trying to web surf at 28.8 anymore. Satellite is very expensive, the latency precludes online gaming (I was able to play online with dial up), and if you exceed your bandwidth limitations your speed gets choked down to below dial up for an extended period of time.

There are no plans to ever have cable or DSL here.

Just take in mind that those are kilobits not kilobytes.

Can't you connect to a mobile phone network?
They offer that in Latvia.
