"then use the lasso to select the bright particles and fill with black." oh, i apologize enmos. i thought he did it an easier way.
Awww.. nice! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Too bad that the scanner lid press my leaf. I'll ask my bf if he has a paintshop program in his PC.
The best way is still to leave the lid up like I described before. The edge of the leaf is a bit ugly now.
Ok, I'll let the lid up next time. Much better compared to mine in post #335 Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Good girl Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Well, I do have Paintshop, so.. So about posting an unedited image. Should I post one with a black background or one with a white one ?
Sorry, Enmos, I got a phone call just now. Ok, if my bf doesn't have one, I'd like to ask you to edit for me if it doesn't bother you much! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! It's up to you, Enmos. Actually I like the black one more, especially when the leaf is kind of yellow, so it gives nice contrast. When the leaf is green, though, I think the white background is fine. But this is all up to you, it's your leaf ^^
No problem at all. But you would have to send me the original file then. Perhaps I'll do both Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Ok, here they are. The ones on the left are unedited (only resized and sharpened). The ones on the right are edited with Paintshop Pro (resized, sharpened, contrast +10, some color enhancement, cloning out the dust and dirt particles, and for the black one filling with black). The unbelievable mess you see in the unedited black one comes from the piles and piles of leaves I scanned before this one. I try to clean the glass once in a while and superficially right before scanning, but apparently some stuck. It's worse than I thought.. I think I'm going to clean it thoroughly tomorrow.. lol Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! First the one with the black background: Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! And here the one with the white background: Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
If its a regular glass plate, use Kleenex made damp with distilled water to clean it and brush off the lint with a camel hair brush. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I have no idea if it has some sort of coating. So I was thinking of using TFT cleaner. I'll have to check the manual I guess Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I would suggest using distilled water followed by isopropyl alcohol with some lint free cloth [I prefer Kleenex but you may have the cloth that you get with glasses or video head cleaners]. Its what I use for my very expensive bio-imaging systems Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I'm hesitant about using alcohol. Any coating might not be able to handle that. Not sure what properties isopropyl alcohol exactly has though.
I generally use ethyl alcohol at 70% for glass [not coated glass] because it removes organic residues [oil etc]
Well, I could have squashed a few aphids on it.. or perhaps it's some residue from that wet leaf I scanned. Other than that I have no clue what could have attached itself to the glass like that. It's not really visible with the naked eye btw.. the particles are, but the smears aren't.
Beautiful! What leaf is that, Enmos? I have scanned this just now in the dark, but cannot make it sharp Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! I guess I have to find really flat leaf: Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! I put the leaf in the fridge now, in case I will scan it again tomorrow. Tonight I am waiting for a friend who will come to take her luggage (she is moving), so I am scanning the leaf in hurry.
I scan it again with lid closed (and so, white background): Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Thanks Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! It's Rosa rugosa (Japanese Rose). Yep, that's one of the drawbacks. It worked pretty well though Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Cool Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Is it a Geranium btw ?
