Even if consanguineous, there would be technically no problem.

Cleopatra was the product of, and don't quote me on the numbers as I'm unsure, 9 or 11 generations having sex with each other within the Ptolemaic dynasty.
    Same with the Ceasers.
Same with many societies whose numbers were small and would seek to increase them by crossbreeding between and among families.
The practice is common, with any sexually organism, when numbers are small or there is a premium on purity, as it is with Royal blood.
The practice becomes uncommon once numbers are stable and there is no premium on anything, as it is with the majority that makes up the mass of civilization.

Either way, this does not prove that there is something inherently wrong with the practice of incest.

I said technically because of the increased risk of congenital defects the further down the generation one goes.
Hemophilia, for example, ran its poison-ed red streak through the Romanov family because of it being a recessive trait that increased its chance of coupling with another recessive defect just like it by interbreeding within the same family.
    Which is what happened.

    Oops.
    (Thank you)

A more interesting one- Fourner's syndrome, which historically was referred to as "Herod's Disease".

A delicious fungus affecting the male scrotum, rendering it green and grangenous before it falls off.
Read a delightfully witty account of it in Grave's historical novel:"I, Claudius"

You don't have to go back as far as Ptolemy, Caesars, or even the royal families of Europe.

The Rothschild family took a few generations off to inbreed.
I've got a diagram in a magazine that shows just how inbred they were and have tried getting it from the web page of the magazine, but the stupid page has an error in it and won't bring up the full-size chart. I suppose I could scan it if anyone was that interested.

Suffice it to say that over two or three generations, the family married only within the family, first cousins, nieces, etc... They did so for a simple reason. Money.

The patriarch of the family, Mayer Amschel Rothschild, laid down a will that split the fortune only among the male heirs. Because of this, the female heirs were hard pressed to find suitable mates and were thus implicitly encouraged to marry within the family. Which they did. For a couple of generations. At which time the inheritance tradition of the family was changed and they began to outbreed once more.

The thing about inbreeding is that it's not necessarily a bad thing. It does bring out genetic flaws, but if the flaws are not too prevalent, then it is safe in limited doses.

The article is located here by the way. In case anyone has access to Discover magazine.

Also. A few links to web resources are given.

    www.consang.net
    www.cousincouples.com
    www.cuddleinternational.org

Anyway. As to the topic. Of course there's nothing wrong with it. The answer is so obvious that I'm surprised it was even asked.

Actually, I suspect that riku is something other than a drunk. The strange spelling and grammatical errors are far too.... strange to be real. Stereotyped.

    Sniff. Sniff.
