Did you notice religions are still going on, Lori? Have you also noticed that the more religious a society, the more bad things they do?
i don't think that is the correlation. i think religion is like anything else in the world. it can be used for bad, and it can be used for good, it just depends on who is using it.
Religion is not based on morals, hence it can't possibly be used for good. The gods are hateful, vengeful psychotics.
Why wouldn't morals achieve freedom? You don't believe in gods, either. I simply believe in one less god than you.
why would they achieve freedom? do birds need morals to flock? i'm talking about something more instinctual. morals seem contradictory to freedom to me.
Morals would release one from the psychotic ideologies of religions, giving them freedom of their minds from the slavery of cults. You don't even know what morals are, how could they be contradictory?
first of all, morals are derived from religion. secondly, they're rules designed to keep us in line, contrary to our inclinations. that's not freedom.
No, they are not. There have been ample examples provided from scriptures that belay your claim. I personally have no inclinations whatsoever that run contrary to any laws deemed by society. If you do, that's probably a result of your religion and lack of morals. So, there you have your evidence that morals are NOT derived from religion.
Well, to be more precise, it's more that morals don't have to come from religion, and some religions have moral codes at odds with current social mores.
