I just use my PC for games on the web or the ones I download for free. I find that the web has many free sites that allow for many games to be enjoyed without paying 30.00 for games. While the games for free aren't as great as those you buy they will do for me for what I do not have I cannot miss.

I would say I like the Wii because I like the features. Although I have never played the XBox version. I did like the original X Box with the DVD add on.

It's been almost 30 years since I played with Nintendo, but at the time I played enough that I think my thumbs suffered long term damage.

I'm betting the hand controller's are a bit more ergonomic now, but not sure that does much for the addicted player's long term health issues, or that they would even care until it's to late.

Wow, I guess it has been 30 some years since Nintendo came out.

I bought it when it first came out. I guess it was '88?

I played that for hours on end, for the longest. (had the "game-boy" too.)

I had the Atari before that, and of course, played pong before that.

Man, I feel old now....Pass the Geritol please.

At that time I visited some friends that had a 18 month work gig in Japan and I played on the first Nintendo that was marketed in Japan. It was a complete different unit than was sold here in America, the game cartridges were only half the size of ours and they had many more games than were ever sold here.

    Funny you say that...

I had just come back from 3 months in Japan,(Yokosuka Naval Base) before I bought the original Nintendo. I didn't know they had a different version there.

I spent most of my free time there, drinking Sapporo, and playing pachinko machines.

I was in the foreign section of Osaka, but did get to visit some of the castles in Kyoto, also had Kobe beef while there. Went to a huge mall close to a mile long during their spring break, it was packed wall to wall with short black haired Japanese people and being 6"1' at the time I felt conspicuous. They are somewhat addicted to pachinko aren't they?

Actually I went before they sold any version in the U.S. When I got back I had to wait another 6 months for the U.S. version to be released for sale. I really thought they were going to release all the same games too. To bad they didn't.

Yeah, a true culture shock being there, as an American.

Funny how you mentioned the "height" issue. I'm just under 6'3, and felt like a freak when I was there.

I had never heard of pachinko before going there. But, I have 4 machines in my house as of now...For a semi-plain game, it's very addicting.

And, it was funny that gambling was illegal there, but pachinkos where EVERYWHERE.

I remember having to walk down dark alleys to cash in the "balls" for money.

I may be "youngish" but I have played atari. An thought some games were neat. An I have played sega ,nintendo, game boy, an several others till around 2003. Then my younger cousins got me playing Wii. Haven't wanted to try nothing else. But I did try some Japanese game console 1 time. An I have never heard of it released here. An I didn't know that Nintendo was so different in Japan.

WIKI: The Japanese government estimates the annual revenues of the pachinko and pachislot industry are in the region of ¥29 trillion (US$378 billion) thereby indicating the popularity of these games. This is approximately four times the total profit of world-wide legal casino gambling each year

I had Colecovision, Intelevision, Atari 2600, Nintendo, Commodore 64, rented a Dreamcast to play resident evil, X Box (DVD payer sucked), was given a PSP, and owned PS1, 2 and 3.

I like the PlayStation the best

They are only popular in Japan, where they like to play the ones where you can win money as in gambling.

More like a cross between a slot and a pinball machine. I'll post 6 pictures to help give you a good picture of what they are.

Pachinko balls are steel and about the size of a peril. You have a spring loader like in a pinball machine to smack the ball into play where it falls through an array of pins bouncing all over the place as it falls and you hope to influence in some way where it ends up before it comes to rest.
