I've seen the word "factorize" used often (meaning to find factors of a polynomial). When did this word start being used?

Make friends with Dictionary.com . It says that the word originated in the late 1850s.

I'm somewhat surprised that it goes that far back. I never enountered it during my student days. I only became aware of it in recent years in forums like this.
