I took my daughter to DMV today so she could get her driving permit. I was interested to learn that they now use facial recognition software to check the identity of those applying for ID's, licenses, and permits... http://www.oregon.gov/ODOT/DMV/pages/faqs/facial_recognition.aspx In general, I think it's a good thing and believe it can help fight identity theft. However, I think it's also a little worrisome that a person's image is kept in a database, always accessible for any purpose.
