On the whole, mainstream music is pretty bad, but it does not take an emo kid to see that. Atreyu and Coheed suck as well. It is absolutely retarded to swear off bad music, then replace it with worse. I would probably rather listen to the latest Gwen Stefani abhorrence than some screamo bullshit.

There are always depressed teenagers. The emo and goth thing is just a fashionable way to express it (in their eyes). It's usually just a phase. Emos now get the scorn that goths used to get. There is a style of music called gothcore which is a goth and emo. Anyway I like some emo bands.
