While this contains some truth, this did/does not happen only in most Islamic societies, but basically in any poor and/or backward societies. You can see this (subjugation of women) in Hindu society such as Nepal, or even rich society such as Japan. In Nepal, which isn't an Islamic society, some ethnics still adopt the system where a wife of a guy is also belong to the guy's brothers. In Nepal, Srilanka, and some part of India, to marry a guy, a woman should "buy" the guy (submit some money or stuffs to the guy's family). This also happens in one ethnic in Indonesia, which isn't a muslim ethnic. These still happen right today as we speak.

Even if that is true, you should not cherry picking the case. You firstly should mentioned ALL terrorisms happened in history, and then go from there. Note: I do NOT support terrorism, I condemn it, I'm just saying that you should use proper scientific method as to avoid bias.

Why are you helping this liar? Is it because he's Muslim and you lot stick together no matter whether you're in the right or in the wrong?

But we cannot thank religion itself for moderating those practices, it cherishes a fixed set of values, unchanging and handed down by God. Sharia law is inevitably associated with oppression of women's rights.

The only reason anyone is "moderate" in matters of faith these days is that he has assimilated some of the fruits of the last two thousand years of human thought (democratic politics, scientific advancement on every front, concern for human rights, an end to cultural and geographic isolation, etc.). The doors leading out of scriptural literalism do not open from the inside. The moderation we see among nonfundamentalists is not some sign that faith itself has evolved; it is, rather, the product of the many hammer blows of modernity that have exposed certain tenets of faith to doubt.
