But would that not be the current universe, today? According to Hazen, new compounds are being made as we speak. The Universe is still evolving.

You missed the question.
The question was if the Universe itself could be considered the largest compound consisting of elements.

 

Beaconator is, or rather was, one of our resident nutters. I think he has been banned, though for some reason does not have the “banned” flag against his name. I always thought he was a sad case. There were traces in his posts of a former knowledge of chemistry, now all jumbled up by his illness.

 

Since the Universe by definition is everything then yes.
In the same way it contains the largest number of wombats, it's a meaningless statement.
While you are happy to let a thread meander and finally land on Tegmark I am not. Certainly not in the hard science section.

 

No, the question was whether or not the periodic table evolves. The largest chemical compound was an irrelevant silly question subsequently introduced by a now banned poster.

But, on the subject of compounds, I should point out that planets, the universe, or whatever large agglomeration somebody may choose, are not chemical compounds. The difference between a mixture and a compound is a basic distinction.

Back on the thread topic, the periodic table evolves as new elements are synthesised. A number of different arrangements of the table have also evolved, emphasising different patterns among the elements. But the basic layout is unchanged, as it is determined by the electronic structure of atoms.

If the OP is answered or the original question is flawed (both in this case) then the thread should be locked.
This keeps threads of this nature higher quality.

I was in the psyche ward helping them notice signs of a both new and old perversion. A young woman with inarticulate speech kept turning and waving her knee length dress in front of me. As she turned I could feel what felt like threads moving up my leg. It made me feel uncomfortable so I moved them. Drew a line so to speak. She said, “the knife was in the river” and “it’s under his foot”. So I picked up my foot and the guard seated next to me jumped out of his chair! I put my foot down “and told her “you’re not hurting anyone!” She whispered, “supposed so” then screamed in anger through the guards talkie located on a table five feet and around the corner from her.

She was escorted out and the guard said I had an undoing side.

the second incident I did not see, But remarked later, “ how does it feel to be just like Lazarus?” His response was, “not too bad” in a solemn voice.

I just found this interesting cruising through the forum. Shame Chemistry hasn’t had a post in nearly three years. I try to keep track of what elements and procedures are found in the things around me.

The topic itself seemed silly, but the idea that the universe is made of elements that do undergo change is undeniable. I wonder if pieces of different elements act as their respective element of if it is all the same.

 

No, your contribution to hard science yet again was irrelevant. Reported again.

 

Mixtures and compounds relative to the universe only vary between temperatures and pressure as far as we know.
