I agree with the first part of this. The last "war" America declared to fight in was WW2: All of its subsequent adventuring has been largely on presidential edict. But the notion of an Iran strike still seems farfetched to me, if for nothing else than our own intelligence services and military people saying it's impossible to do an Osrik-like raid these days.
I don't think it will happen, mostly because Americans don't have the stomach for it. Our troops could topple that government in a week, but we won't because Obama knows it would guarantee he only served one term.
How close to Bush's foreign policy people do you think Daniel Pipes is? I remember that he was a promoter of the Iraq war who got on TV a lot and or was quoted in newspapers a lot during the run up to the Iraq war. On the other hand, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Feith, and Perle no longer work for Bush. Could Pipes be trying to scare anti-war people into voting for McCain? Doubt it. Pipes probably just misses being relevant to the degree that he was just prior to the Iraq war. The USA is already paying Azerbajani separatists and probably other groups to muck about in Iran but I doubt the USA will do anything more than drop a few bombs on Iran prior to the next presidents term. I would not be surprised if the Bush administration did a few things to try to make it more difficult for Obama to reverse the Bush foreign policy direction. I can't see Bush doing anything to upset the Saudi royal family. I can't see Bush doing anything that leaves the Iranian regime with no reason to not engage in a hot war with the USA. http://www.king-george.biz/wst_page5.html Original 25 PNAC signatories Elliott Abrams Gary Bauer William J. Now that they've been paid on Bushehr, the FSB/Gazprom drug mafia says they will support Bush on Iran. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=a80_zRXYOtO0&refer=home
I wouldn't expect a Democrat to know who Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda are, so yes, it was Bill Clinton's fault.
