Possibilities abound I suppose, but I'm with you; highly unlikely, especially since Tnerb never portrayed what was said as skewed in any way, only embarassed that she brought it up publicly.

No, I don't. I just think that, well.. he has a rough time of it.

He's not putting his hand on a stove.. but I think that his chat with Varda was in a way a clear sign that he needs a fair amount of help.

    Agreed.

Ok, 'unfit for life' was a bit harsh. But you get the idea..
There's no doubt in my mind that he's having a (very) rough time of it.

But he IS putting his hand on the stove. He is doing so by making these kind of personal threads.
He gets burned over and over, yet he keeps putting his hands on the stove.
I think it's attention seeking. It doesn't matter if you get burned as long as your getting some attention for it. I'm sure he's hurting for it.

    This thread brings the "Wow."

Brent, have you ever seen a doctor about your problems? Like one that can medicate you? You seem to have poor impulse control, low self-esteem, depression, and probably some ADD/ADHD. I'm not knocking you, I have ADD myself and it really helps to have a medical professional to talk to and help guide you on the right path. Sciforum residents are not experts nor medical professionals. You really should ask your parents if they can make you an appointment. It will help your future relationships and friendships if you can get some guidence on how to handle what life throws at you.

This particular part is the "cesspool". I can't imagine why they called it that.

From everything I've learned, medications are way over-rated and can frequently worsen the problem. I think it's more a sop for people who want easy solutions and the pharmaceutical companies certainly make a mint off of all the stuff they sell; a few brave souls have made this case, including Jonn Matsen, a Naturopathic Doctor and even someone who used to write for a medical journal (wish I could remember the name of the journal and the editor retiring) as she was retiring and was thus somewhat more immune to the backlash. Pyschotherapy is generally much better.
