“The 700 Club” today ran a story about the religious faith of the pilgrims, which prompted Pat Robertson to warn that everything that the pilgrims and the founding fathers worked to build would be destroyed by the success of gay rights — or “aberrant lifestyles” — in the courts. “Ladies and gentlemen, our warning should be today, we can’t lose that,” he said. “And when you have courts that are taking away the very essence of our democracy, the ground from which this great country came, when courts are saying that is unconstitutional, when they’re exulting aberrant lifestyles and saying that’s constitutional, when they’re defying the very essence of this nation, they are sowing the seeds, not of a new, prosperous nation but the destruction of the one that’s already here.”

The bigger problem, in my view, is that he apparently has followers.

 

There are two types of homosexual behavior. The one that Pat Robinson was talking about would be analogous to some people in modern prisons, who use violence to engage in homosexual behavior. The old testament was not talking about the powder puff gay; but a violent criminal homosexual.

People in prison, who engage in homosexuality, are often not homosexual before they enter. The physical confinement causes the mind to sublimate instinct. One might also assume, since we all create out own reality, imaginary or emotional confinement could do the same thing. Back in the early sales pitch, gay behavior used to be called a women trapped or imprisoned in a man's body. As homosexuality gained more acceptance, the prison or trapped angle was truncated due to acceptance of the situation.

 

We live in a country, America, that gives the rights to anyone to speak freely, to an extent,about matters they would want to discuss. Most things that anyone wants to discuss should always be allowed unless those things are against the law like inciting a riot. Mr. Robertson has every right to discuss his views about what he thinks should be done or is being done so as to allow for his freedom of speech no matter how it wrong or right he might be. To take his freedom to discuss anything would be in violation of his freedom of speech.

 

He has the legal right to discuss his views yet he does not have any moral right to lie about people & try to fool others into believing the lies. He does not have any damn right to disparage people based only on his stupid unsupported fantasy. Freedom comes with responsibility. The people he unjustly tries to vilify deserve to be free from his abuse. He is or pretends to be a fearful hateful hypocrite asshole. Most others' supposed right to say such things would not be supported but rather would result in hate speech charges. He & some others are allowed to "get away with murder" simply because of religion. He would not be allowed to say such things on most other TV shows & for good reason. Much of what he says is not allowed to be said on this forum & for good reason. He is cheating people out of money as surely as any other con man. What he & the vast majority of other priests & preachers do should be determined to be fraud & stopped. We will be better off when he is gone.
