i am ambitious to learn and complete things yet have recently determined that i am a procrastinator along with a splash of laziness.

what was would you recommend in order to reverse this acquired trait?

Too lazy to think for yourself? Or is it procrastination? Both?

Haha. Anyway, I suffer from the same thing. I actually think it is my lack of sleep. My brain is always too tired to think. I find that when I sleep well I am no longer lazy, just a procrastinator. That solves half the problem. To solve procrastination, I need motivation. I have yet to find out how to induce myself with some

are we trying to overload ourselves with information or is it that we are unable to comprehend and retain all information in order to process it in an efficiant manner?

Never put off anything until tomorrow if it can be put off until the day after tomorrow.

    Combine two things into one.

    Sex + education = Edumacation

This formula is a derivation of something George used in Seinfeld.

He combined food+sex into one activity and then while eating food (only) he'd enjoy the other.

Personally, it's a mental thing - I keep reassuring my self I will do it later or tommorow and never end up doing it. There are alot of books about procastination and "professional advice" but when I do, let's say homework.. and I need to do it , I just get my self up.. Force the physical part of me and shut out the mental part untill the books come out and as I put the book out, pencils, and stop doing whatever I was doing. My mental part takes over and figures it might as well do it now before my physical part beats it's ass

ooooh, good post! This question plagues me as well.

I'm disappointed to say the only true answer I've come across is ... don't procrastinate, in other words just do whatever I want to get done and don't stop until I'm finished. This bothers me because I'd always hoped there was more to it than that but from observing the "doers" of the world that's the only answer I've found. Every other option I've looked at works like a bad diet (not at all), as much as I hate it the only answer that I'm sure works is getting off my ass and working hard ... good god, my dad was right.

If anyone knows a better way I'd give my left arm to know it.

The shitty thing is that you can mostly get away with being lazy or procrastination.

Hence there is not really a punishment for being lazy except in rare cases.

Should I study for this exam now or do something fun? Well last time you hardly studied either and you got away with it. What is my choice then!?!

I find that when I am at work I study more than elsewhere (most of the time). See I always procrastinate and never wanna do homework, but when I am at work there is no tv to distract me, no gamecube, no x-box, no porn, nothing. So I figure I'd do all my studying there so that when I get home I can watch tv, play video games, watch porn, and eat fried chicken.

you can't contemplate at lazyness and get something productive out of it...you can't figure lazyness out...you can't come up with a good strategy to fight it...so just give up and throw yourself completely at the task you aim to achieve...that simple though it takes effort and determination

what, no determination? It'll come when you got the water up to your neck

Get a cat, and feed him the cheapest cat food you can find. Every time you settle down for a laze, the cat will come and puke in your sock drawer. This will make you run around and scream, which is very good exercise. Then, while you are doing your laundry, you will feel more motivated to do other things.

Get someone to zap you in the testicles with a cattle prod whenever you are not a whirlwind of activity.

    You're not lazy.

You're doing exactly what it is that you think you should be doing now.

Maybe you're pretending that you're not.

Maybe you should re-evaluate what it is you think you should be doing.

Maybe you shoudl re-evaluate what it is that you aren't doing and start doing it.

Regardless, you're doing what you think you should be doing.

Eat well and exercise ... oh wait , you need to not be lazy to start doing these things.

I think happiness (or relative hapiness) is the key. If a person has the self confidence and appreciation for the reward, he will work hard for it.
