Heh, I can't wait for Halflife either. Some of my old favourites would have to be... - The Exile series, and Geneforge (By Spiderweb Software). - Diablo - Baldur's Gate 2 - Unreal (best game ever) - Halflife - Starcraft - Silent Hill There are many more, but those are the main ones.
Best games the world: - colonize - a civ spinoff I guess but now the aim was to colonize the americas. It had the bonus of being able to play the dutch! - civilization 2 - nuff said. It rules. - doom - I played it over and over. Then discovered how to make maps. That kept me busy for months. Then discovered multiplayer via serial cable. - Half-life - it was so much better than the rest and continued to be better for a long time after. - Tornado - a deep flight sim that I played solid for at least a year. I have been disappointed with every flightsim after because they could never give me that learning curve sensation and that special campaign feeling. A campaign were your efforts actually mattered. -Medieval total war - Been playing it solid for 2 years or so now. Still doesn't bore me. I lost the viking expansion CD twice already. I probably have to buy again soon.
Nano Manegemen - Europa Universalis and spin off FPS - Unreal Tournement (multiplayer) RPG - Fallout or Morrowind Strategy - Medieval Total war (wish i had someone to play this with Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!) Turn based - X-Com: Enermy Unknown Most paranoia - Alien vs Predator 1-2 (as marien) Car game - Insane (multiplayer), Toca (multiplayer) Entire Civ. serie is one of the most cheaping games ever, but ok. Half-life was nothing that had not been done before or after, but for its time it was good. spuriousmonkey: have you ever tried small units in MTW, its about the only thing I have not tried(mostly play expert, huge units) i wonder what its like?, other wise im at a point where i edit my own campains to get the epic battles faster.
there is micro managment(sp?), and then there is nano management for those that like it realy realistic, or a crapy GUI. Europa Universalis is a combination of the 2(crap GUI, much realism) here is a link to the creator http://www.paradoxplaza.com/ think civ on steroids and and a few puf on the peace pipe then you have EU
nope. on that subject, i think that the best game ever is,,,,,,,,, space invaders. really it is, if you think about it. however, in reality, we all know that its probably GTA or MGS. i mean, what else can contend. ?
half life would be in the top ten no doubt. i dont know about freespace and legacy, dont even remember them Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Still think the best one is Lemmings or Mario Kart Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
lemmings would be in the top 30 i think. as for mario kart, i will not doubt that it might take it, but it was only successful in terms of funness, not actual acheivements like MGS and GTA *sarcastic scoffs*
Ok, I´ll give you that. Then perhaps Diablo 2 or Baldurs Gate 2. I have played the second one through 30 times I think, took me some years actually...but it is still fun and good. One of the best RPGs I´ve ever played. But GTA is good, yes...innovative too... No Egoshooter will actually make it I think, they are nearly all the same. Worms would also be cool...
Freespace 2 is the best space combat sim ever developed legacy of the ancient is an old c64 game (or was it ti99?). it was the 1st game i got seriously addicted to. Original GTA3 has to be up there. Anyone remember stunts? great old racing game. civ 2 & 3. i think emperor of dune is the best rts ever.
The Atredies Snipers were awesome in that game. Models and textures could've been better but set the standard for Westwood games and I consider it the prototype for Generals. And stunts, are you refering to the game that you drove your hot rod styled car through loops and jumps and angled curves, etc, etc? And all you could see was the windshield frame and that huge ass engine?!
Cant argue with that Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!, some other old games are pretty good too, settlers, kings bounty, sensible soccer, supercars 2, pirates and even pacman.
pacman rules all. except seemiingly everyone in my family who rule pacman.. butnot me. dammit. i just kick der derrieres at space invaders anyhow.
"The Atredies Snipers were awesome in that game. Models and textures could've been better but set the standard for Westwood games and I consider it the prototype for Generals." The Fremen Fedaykin were wicked online with sneak attacks. I also actually played alot of dune II which was the beginning of rts. What a revolutionary game. Laid the road for c&c, warcraft, etc. "And stunts, are you refering to the game that you drove your hot rod styled car through loops and jumps and angled curves, etc, etc? And all you could see was the windshield frame and that huge ass engine?! " Yep thats it. Me & my buds would make courses and be ultra competive on best times. The top 5 would all be fractions of a second apart. It was a silly game but for some reason very fun when drinking.
