Does the term "bald" refer to any person lacking hair on their head? For instance, if someone shaved their head, but still had the ability to grow their hair back, would they be called "bald?" Or does it only apply to someone who has lost their hair (from natural causes) and cannot grow it back?

Bald just means that they are without any hair.

Not exactly. We've had the ability to grow moustaches and beards since puberty and whether we actually let them grow was just a matter of fashion. What we're talking about here is that as we grow older our ear hair, nose hair and eyebrows become so long and dense that they require trimming. That doesn't happen to women. I also have to shave areas on my cheeks much higher up and closer to my eyes than I ever did when I was young.
