Well it's not always so obvious. My Mom has degrees in psychology and she still doubts it.

It seems to be a condition genetically which alters the nervous system slightly as to create a somewhat different sensation to experiencing life. For instance loud noises have at times so bothered me (Some AS) that it actually caused me pain, or what I'd call pain. Also I tend to hear things others cannot, like the hum a television makes that is constant, which if it's a cheap-o will also drive me crazy.

Other things are the relationships, things have meaning to someone with AS that others simply ignore or don't even acknowledge. It makes socializing difficult :L

True, some people who have AS in a more severe form have been confused with being autistic.

BTW, what is your avatar? It is really creepy.

Cancer is well defined and its diagnosis is usually based on repeatable, physically verifiable evidence. That's not the same as looking through a list of personality traits and counting how many you think you identify with.

The good news is that there has been research on physical differences in autistics and aspies, identifiable via brain scans. This is good because it allows for more consistent diagnosis and a better chance at developing treatment for the negative symptoms. The bad news is that it doesn't increase the reliability of Internet self diagnosis since the average self diagnosing web surfer doesn't have access to medical imaging devices.

I don't think there is any single "NT" culture. There are Jocks, Computer Geeks, Band Geeks, Businesspeople, Italians, Japanese . . . you might find that social interaction in Computer Geek culture or Japanese culture is more formal or less frequent, but aspies will be the minority in all of those cultures.

Your Aspie score: 72 of 200
    Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 140 of 200
    You are very likely neurotypical

I still think I am not although many around me reckon I am. I admit that aspie score 144 of 200 and non aspie at 62 of 200 might suggest I have some traits but I think they are mild (but admit I have them).

Yeah OK for you, what about me? This isn't fair I thought the test would back up my suspicion that I am not likely to have aspergers, instead it shot my argument down. Some of the questions were odd (like do you enjoy mimicking animal noises) but mostly I felt very strongly yes or no about the rest so think it's probably accurate. My wife seen my results and went off on the "I told you" rant. She is still wrong.

Gah, I've got to go back and do it again. I remember now: I want to be intellectually talented. But I'll probably end up a compulsive neuro.
