OMFG!!! These people get a gvmt house given to them (a HOUSE not an apartment), a free gvmt check every month, free medical care, and a free college education.
I have seen houses with the floors ripped out because they drank the money needed for fire wood. Gvmt checks are spent on booze which is why they resort to selling their food stamps. They quit going to college because its 'tradition' to get there when they get there because time has no meaning, so class start times have no meaning.
The Navajos took what they had, built casinos and are doing well. They quit using 'tradition' as an excuse to fail.
Me and my future generations are already helping them. Our taxes pay for their gvmt check. They and their future generations can help themselves.

As I have never traveled to an Indian reservation, I cannot confirm what you have stated with my own experience. I have heard that many Indian tribes have established casinos on their territory as that is the only way for them to make a livelihood on a barren land. The fact that many of the Indian men have become addicted to alcohol is very disheartening for me, because this is one of the sights of intense poverty. This is also common in many poor communities in the larger cities, and particularly among blacks.

And yet, all around those Indian lands, white men have taken the same "barren land" and have made it profitable. Hmm?

Isn't it odd to you that you don't see the same kinds of slums among whites? And if the ratios are correct, then there should be many, many more drunken, addicted white slums as there are Indian and Black slums. But there ain't, are there? Now don't that make you wonder??

Thanks for the article, I am very interested in the fall of the great Indian nations, especially the proud Cheyenne, Arapaho, and the Dakota, Lakota, Nakota. I believe part of the problem is that the ancestors who fought against the white settlers prided themselves on their lifestyle and independence, yet when they lost the wars are were reduced to living off meager scraps on a worthless reservation provided by the American government, a mentality of helplessness and sorrow overtook them. The wars which the white settlers had as much as a physical effect (massacre, starvation) as a mental effect.

I believe the situation of the Native Americans and the Native Australians is quite similar. The governments of both nations need to take a more positive role in the situations of the people who they robbed of their land.

 

How about the Baluchistanis? Should they get land back too? Just curious.
