Not at all, there are many types of sources, but you'd be hard pressed to find one on the famines which was not controlled by the British media at the time. Or did you think its a coincidence that there is no news out of India for the 10 years following the mutiny in 1857? Whatever happened during that time of silence, the mutiny was most effectively crushed. It had to be, it was the first armed uprising in the British empire.

Ah you're thinking of the American revolution? That was a civil war.

    Even so ....

That's an interesting way of looking at it. Even so: 1837, Canada.

(I know; I'm not sure I'd heard of it before, either. Of course, it was Quebec, so I've probably heard of it, but never known the details.)

I'll look for some more, but we could probably go on all day narrowing our definitions.

Xcuse me for sounding racist, but I was referring to the natives fighting back against their massahs

Anyway this is what we learned in history so it could be a teeny bit embroidered.

    No it wasn't :3

The New Zealand wars were fought between 1845 and 1872, with the first skirmish being in 1843.

The New Zealand wars came about because the Maori began resisting European colonization of land that had been depopulated as a result of the Musket Wars which began in the early 1800's, and appear to have been largely fueled by the introduction of Potatoes to the Maori in 1794.

There was also a revolution in Upper Canada in 1837. It failed rather quickly and had little support in the first place.

No, because according to what I'm being told about how I should behave, what I would actually do is play the race card, claim that being descended from pocahontas makes me a Europeanized Maori, claim and claim that because I'm Maori, and you're European, and Europeans oppressed Maori, and lied about some stuff, so I have no reason to believe anything you say - I would even be entitled to declare utu against you (and your children, and your childrens children, and so and so forth).

    Do you actually believe that?

The Scots and Irish have been uprising against the British Empire every forty or fifty years since there was any such thing to uprise against - say, 1306 or earlier. The Scotch-Irish uprising in the Colonies was just the first one to stick in a while.
