Well yeah, I have windows xp home but I lost the serial (I know I know) and I recently formatted (which didn't go out so well, for some reason I had 30GB and suddenly I got under 766MB what the fuck) and I have to reactivate windows (I now only got two days to do this or I cannot continue using windows) I tried downloading serial keys but all Ive tried (astalavista.com and some iMesh serials) didn't work.

Is there any cracks to do this or any way I can avoid "activation" with windows? also in the start up of my computer it gives me two options of windows xp I can go in. The first doesent work but second one does, I assume all my memory is getting fucked on the first one, how do I put this out?...

if anyone has any ideas its much appreciated.

search some more on the net, try google's groop search or something. Even though that's not legal, i haven't heard much about what the forum manager thinks about stuff like this, but usually they "officially" have to be agaisnt it. I dunno what the hd error is but it could be just a error on the disk, run scandisk.

You would probably get a lot more help on this if you took it to one of the technology forums like nerd culture. This might be moved there anyways.

Um, you're up shit creek homie, and you need to act fast if you're gonna win this one.

Windows XP Home Eddition is uncrackable (right now). You've got to activate that shit no matter what. Getting another serial won't work either (I think you figured that out).

Your HD problem is due to how you formatted it. Make sure you have the right formatting tool. Older tools will only format your computer to a certain level. Sometimes it's a motherboard issue, but if you bought it as a package that shouldn't be the case. You'll probably want to format your HD in NTFS file system, cuz it provides better security for XP. If you're using the windows format tool that one sucks, so get a powerful one on the internet...sorry, no suggestions. They're out there on google.

To solve your XP problem here's a cool trick I figured out when I was in your shoes. Windows XP professional (without Service Pack 1) is the only XP eddition that doesn't need to be activated. Weird isn't it? Get it off kazaa, an ISO file ready to burn on a cd and install. Once you've got it installed you just have to make sure you don't use the automatic update feature- don't want to have to activate. If you want SP1 (which you will for any USB 2.0 drivers) you can download a tool that will change your serial after the fact to one that is compliant to sp1 but doesn't force you to activate. You can find it at cracks.st. It's all highly illegal.

If you dont want to go that path- I thought you could just call up microsoft and tell them you lost your serial and if you give them your machine serial they'll give it to you again...not sure cuz I never had to do that.

    Good luck!

If you can't download anything then you are fucked. If you've got another box can't you download stuff on it?

Nevermind I can download things, but the iso in the cracks site does not work for me, and I can't get ahold of kazaa or any other psp program because I cannot reach my desktop. I don't know if I can actually unzip files because that would need Winzip. Yeah I got another box but its my brothers computer and I can't open CDS because that would need the presence of my desktop. Thanks for your help and future help man...this is a pretty big problem for me.

iso in the cracks site? So you can't use your programs because you can't get to your desktop? Why is that? Are you in windows or are you in dos...or something...I think I'm not getting all the info.

You know what an ISO file is right? Not trying to insult you, just need to know.

What the goal is is to get XP pro, right? Or another operating system. The only way to do this is thru Kazaa or another p2p program, which you say you can't get to...

the only way you're getting around this is if you can get to the p2p program. So, maybe I can help you get to the desktop....maybe not, I'm not sure what exactly is keeping you from doing that.

    I'll be checkin in later

I am only able to acess the internet because of a loop in the activation thing, when it asks me to activate I click "help website" and it opens IE and im able to change the url...

I am not on dos or anything I just can't get onto my desktop without activating windows XP. Is an ISO an operating system?

And I think I can re-download Imesh or Kazaa and theoritically it would work but what would be the point here? to download another operating system? won't I just have the same problem?

Even if I did download another operating system I cannot burn it because this would require me reaching my desktop....... and if I burn it in my other computer I cannot open it in this one because that too would require my desktop......

Thanks for your help and future help man

aaaaaaaaaahhh, I've got you now. Yeah, I think we can work this.

I remember when I did this I started up in safe mode and was able to get to the desktop, unfortunately I think it won't load your internet and that would be pointless...but if you've got the internet that's all we need.

Make sure you read this all the way thru so you can determine if it will even work in the first place.

An ISO is actually a file that you burn on a disc. It's hard to describe, but say I had a windows operating system disc and wanted to copy the disc I could do two things: copy it with a copy tool, or make an ISO file, which takes all the files on the one disc and makes it into one file..when you burn it on another disc it will be exactly like the last disc. I'm not sure if that's the best explanation ever, but I hope you get the idea.

So what you're doing is trying to get another windows operating system disc. Not just any operating system tho- you're trying to get one that you don't have to activate, like I said earlier. You said you can get kazaa- so do it. Once it's up search for windows xp professional...it's either gonna be an iso file or an exe file or something, but just make sure the file size is around 700 Mb or something around there. If you don't have cable I'd just give up. Once you have the file it is important to make sure that if the file you downloaded isn't a .iso that you change it to .iso by renaming it. You'll also need a winxppro serial, get that from cracks.st.

Once you have that you'll have to do a trick to get to your desktop. Do you know how to get into safe mode? reboot your machine. When it's commin back on press f8 or f10 (different on every machine really) until it takes you to the safe mode selection screen. Once there chose start windows in command prompt...I'm doing this from memory, so be creative if I miss something. Once it starts up, lots of dos stuff and whatnot. I believe it brings you to a dos screen. What you need to do is press ctrl+alt+del, windows task manager will open. Go to file- new task. I don't think it really matters what you start, but try a burning program for convineince. Windows will start up around the dos propt and whatnot, so close the dos window by typing exit once everything is up.

Now that you've got the iso and you're at your desktop you have to burn the iso to a cd. I hope you've got a burner on this computer and burning software like Nero Burning ROM that recognises the .iso file format. If you don't make sure you download that too and install it (kazaa). If you don't have a burner on that computer try networking your two computers (if that's an option and if the other computer has a burner) and transfering the iso. Burn the cd, then reboot the computer with the cd in the drive and reinstall windows using the serial you got from cracks.st.

There are gonna be so many problems that I hope you don't have. That's the idea, so maybe you can get something from it and improvise. Good luck, I'll be back later

The best way to avoid Windows activation is to install Linux.

Heres something I had problems with, Just recently I purchased an Athlon 1800+ XP system, But I didn't have any drives, So I butchered an Obslete Pentium 100 system for the harddrives, one of them didn't work originally so I messed about and got it working.

I decided to install XP on the drive, problem was my drive had a corruption in the sense that the Partition data was damaged, so I ended up with partitions that were not right (and in FAT format).

Using any form of Emergency disk wasn't removing the partition, So I grabbed hold of a "Debian" CD, and used the BIOS to boot the disk. It's installation process has a point where you an assign partitions (or should I say "delete them")

So basically I didn't install Debian but I did use the install disk to deal with the partition issue, I was then able to format the disk properly (and utilise partion magic for any later alterations)

How I loaded XP though was by loading up Win98 first, then upgrading, It dealt with the problems of some files being corrupted.

As for a serial, I can't give you a serial to use but there could be keygenerators on the net, although I'm not telling you to use them since it is an infringement of copyright/law and will invalidate any EULA agreements.

    coughhacough
