In a glimpse of things to come, a gas station in california is charging $5.40 for a gallon, That would mean it would cost $162 to fill up my Suburban. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Right now, this is a special situation. But I really see no end to this rise in gasoline prices anytime soon. I doubt it will be long before we're all paying that much.
I always point out that European prices for fuel include hefty taxes, which buy needed services, including a fantastic public transportation system, so the comparison isn't quite equal. In fact, Europe is closer to the sources of oil, so transportation costs are lower. Driving a suburban should be a crime anyway.
$9.10 regular unleaded in the UK. The UK gallon is slightly bigger that the US gallonn but I can't be bothered to work ou the difference,
Diesel here is about $9.18 and that's the cheapest, available at supermarkets. In the UK we get ripped off all the time. It might be interesting to start a thread comparing prices around the globe. I would suggest that comparisons should be based on hourly, weekly, monthly or annual income so that the playing field is as level as we can reasonably make it. Let me know if you agree and we could have some fun.
The comparison would have to include the availability of public transportation like trains, the health care costs that UK citizens don't pay, the more efficient cars available in Europe due to regulations...
Ok, you got me there.. Cars themselves btw are more expensive here too. As are cigarettes and alcoholic drinks most probably.
I just bought a motorcycle that gets 50 miles per gallon. I drive about 500 miles a month so I'll be paying about 35.00 US for 10 gallons of gas to go where I want.
I pay 0$ for gas, I drive a bike. in snow and rain and across the ice too. I only fell 3 times so far.
And when you fall and break your leg, arm or neck , then you'll be paying allot in doctors bills and pain and suffering.
What a gas guzzler! Mine gets 80, but it's a small thumper. These things can get 150 mpg or more: http://www.motoredbikes.com/
actually I have developed a method of falling, I basically fall on a side and roll around to put that energy into rolling motion. I mean if you are talking about chances of me falling or breaking my leg...well there are chances of car crash as well. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
But you have fallen 3 times already, I don't know of anyone that has had more than one automobile accident.
me falling is not even close to having a small automobile accident. I fall, 10 seconds later I get up, and ride smiling like nothing ever happened.
That's another point, if you ride a lightweight vehicle like a bike or motorbike and you crash, it's more damaging in the US, due to the medical bills for which you will be responsible. People here actually say they drive big trucks just to be safe.
perhaps you people don't understand me, I drive a high speed carbon frame bicycle (not a motorcycle).
