2nd Annual Sciforums Online get-together

So we, the sciforums users, have to decide to play a game online, a strategy game preferrably, and we have to set a date. This is the second time I've had this idea, before I wanted to have a sciforums starcraft game but it didn't really catch on.

So, in any case, I vote for starcraft: broodwar online, on battle.net, sometime over this weekend or next weekend. For those of you who don't know Starcraft is a slightly old strategy game that is arguably the best ever made, and at the moment you could probably find it at your local wally world for under $10.

But I'm also game for maybe Diablo 2 (even if I have to install it again), Dungeon Siege, Jedi Knight 2, Tribes 2, that's all I can think of at the moment.

This is just my luck, My Starcraft Cd is sitting in someones drawer about 100 miles away. Which is a real pain in the A**e since I have broodwar sitting here.

I did at one point move the game (and the pain stakingly created reg file) across to the machine I'm using, but this machine has had some changes since back then, it got wiped and my machine that had it on also got wiped for a different OS.

It will probably take months to get Broodwar up, unless I'm able to convince someone to get hold of it for me.

Anywayz I set Starcraft Broodwar in my download que (top priority) and when I get it, I'll send it to Stryder also.

So we could do it smtime this Saturtday or Sunday I suppose.
Depends of when Stryder will receive his free copy.

Actually, why don't we play Day of Defeat? I would imagine everyone here has Half Life (though if you don't have DoD you're looking at a 150MB download).

For strategy all I have is Heroes of Might & Magic 3 (I have both expansions as well).

Bah, diablo 2 = yuck I still have yet to finish Baldur's Gate 2, I'd be up for that, but it would a long thing over time.

I am on cable, but that's not to say maybe one of you doesn't have a faster connection than I.

 

Has hnyone here ever played diplomacy?

technicly diplomacy is a board game with a crap ass comp version made of it.

a WWI board game based on your ability to lie and backstab people.

Avatar and me have always seen eye to eye on IG2. It is an awsome game.

But I think we should do Brood War, the majority of us have it, and if you don't its a fairly cheap deal.

 

I just started playing, but hey I'll join the fight. You can count me in

 

So now we have to decide on what map to play on. Personally I'd like to do Island Hop or Primeval Islands, BGH, or maybe the Lost Temple.

Here are some ground rules:

-When one of us dies, we should all ally with that player, so that he doesn't get booted and so he can watch the rest of the game, assuming the player wants to.

-No rush for ~15 minutes, but that won't really matter if we do an Island map.

-Don't hack, if Blizzard finds out they'll kick your IP from b.net

-Have fun, and whoever wins gets to gloat

Whatever it is, it should be an islands one. Most certainly. And it would have to be fairly obviously named (the game name i mean) and password required. I think "Sciforums" would be a fairly obvious, simple, and appropriate one.
